Well guys no banding for me today. I got to the hospital at 6:15 went to surgery at 7:30 and by 8:00 the doctor was talking to my husband. He said there was no way -to much scar tissue in my stomach and that he could not even get in there and to try to would have put my life in danger. I can not have any type of WLS. So its back to square one for me on weight loss. So good luck to everyone and thanks for the prayers.:)

Oh man, I am soooo sorry. That really sucks.

Hey Diz...I am actually supposed to be taking in as much protien as I can I am just having trouble making myself drink the protien shakes...I am hoping next week will be better when I can do more of the mushy thing...My mind and sense of smell are getting the better of me with some of the things I am suppose to be ingesting...A few things I need to work on...I was done on the 12th and most of my pain is gone just week and tired...I am very glad and lucky to have a few weeks for recovery...

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. I didn't realize that the sense of smell is so affected. Guess that means that I'll be lucky if I still like my Protein shake after surgery on Thurs. Thank goodness about the pain. I don't have to go back to work until July 7th, so I'm thinking I should be in a good spot then. Thanks for the info Susanm.

I am so sorry, Teacher! Please don't give up. Just to be sure, please get a second opinion from another surgeon. There may be bariatric surgeons who specialize in tougher cases. I, too, have scar tissue and netting from previous surgeries, and my surgeon says that worst case scenario is a full surgery (not laparascopic). You're still one of us!

I'm so sorry to hear that this happened to you. What kind of previous surgeries had you had, that caused so much scar tissue? My surgery is on Thursday, and I'm concerned that I'll be told the same thing you were. :)

I have been living on thinned out yoghurt and Soup (with skim milk) and I have been adding skim milk powder to increase the protien...My dietician also suggest raw egg whites, blenderized and thinned out tofu and of course the Protein Powder...just can't do those ones...am looking forward to Thursday when I can have some real protien even if it is blenderized... (He is supposed to be drooling not puking)

Today is the day.. !!.. I have two and a half hours before I leave the house. I have cleaned my room.. made my bed all lovely for coming back tomorrow. I have laid out my painkillers, fluids and liquid Vitamins.. I am about to call my parents in New Zealand and reassure them that I am 'fine'!!.. and then my sisters in Aus and England...

.. I may sit and watch a bit of "most haunted' on youtube.. silly me I watched the 'Pendle Hill' episode last night and subsequently scared myself stupid..and didn't go to sleep until 4!!!.. well at least I was distracted!!. (hence watching another one.. great for distracting and scaring the bejezus!!)...

so there you go.. will be popping back and forth to get some final words of encouragement from this wonderful 'Godsend' of a site.. and you wonderful people!.. (in between my urgent rushes to 'pee' again!!.. how many times can a girl go in a few hours!???).. ha

See you all !!!. Good Luck 18's!!!.. don't get too nervous 19's!!!..

Kizzie

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
