Not sure if it was you who asked a similar question a little while ago so I will reply again. I spent a week in Thailand in April and had no problems with the food. had been banded for 6 months at the time. I ate from some of the stalls and smaller food places. I always drank bottled Water though. Have a great holiday.

A dose of bali belly will give you diarrhoea, not vomiting. Unpleasant but easily manageable with some Immodeum, and not dangerous to the band. Dont even clean your teeth with tap Water though! And steer clear of any suspect foods like lettuce etc that will have been washed in the Water.< /p>

I managed two weeks in Bali many years ago with no bali belly till the last day and let me tell you, staying in the toilet on a Garuda flight is WAY more comfortable than an economy seat!

When I went to Bali preband (twice) I was on BALI travel FORUM -- Bali, Indonesia a lot. Perhaps you could join that forum and ask if anyone going in June has a lap band, you might have more luck that way (its mostly Aussie and New Zealanders on there). There aren't too many Aussies on this forum, I think the chances of one of us also going to Bali at the same time next month as you are slim. Although I wish I were going!!!

I am fine going this is my second band in 1 year and it will be wide open when i go.( mmm Black rice pudding Nasi goreing Be Bek batutu).I posted on here because it is not just us Aussies who go to Bali although it just about still is I hear

I haven't logged on here in absolute ages, and this is the first post I came across. Funnily enough, I'm headed off to Bali tomorrow morning for 4 or 5 days. I've been several times since I was banded, and I've pretty much gotten Bali belly every time. As you say, a little Immodium usually does the trick, no further complications. Where in Bali are you staying? We always stay in Sanur.

I think the chances of finding a Perth person on a world wide forum going to Bali on the same date and flight as you wouldn't be that common. You would probably have more luck as someone said on one of the travel forums.

enjoy your holiday.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
