Fill Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I don't see a thread specifically for fill discussion, so I thought I'd make one.

I had my second fill today. I have 7 ccs in my 10 cc band. He said there was some (2ccs) in there at surgery, the first fill was 3 ccs and today was 2 ccs.

Of course I'm just on liquids now, but I'm anxious to see how eating will be different. I have a big fear of getting too tight, but then I need restriction too. So it's a hard middle ground to find. I just hope this gets me to a good spot with my eating.

My first fill was pretty traumatic. He stuck me about 10 times before he finally was able to get the Fluid in. I had him numb me halfway through when it was obvious that it was taking a while. Today was better. I had him numb me up first thing and then I tried not to pay attention to what he was doing. It took a little while, some poking and pushing, but he got me filled fine. I have about 5 or 6 poke marks, so it was better than last time and I don't feel traumatized.

I'm surprised that I already have 7 ccs. I would have thought it would take more fills to get to this point.

How are the rest of you Victorious Valentines doing?

I've just had 2 fills and have 4cc in 10cc band.

I feel like I have almost perfect restriction. I might like it a TAD tighter, but I'm close. I can't eat hardly anything in the morning, a little more at lunch and then dinner I can eat quite a bit. Nothing has gotten stuck, but I do get some not so friendly reminders sometimes. I can eat anything, bread, rice, chicken, etc. Which is good. I'm afraid if I get that touch of fill I think I need, that will end. So I'm torn. At this point I'm losing, so I'm just running with it. :rolleyes2:

I just had my 4th fill Tuesday 4 cc's in a 10cc band, my doctor is soooo conservative with the fills, 1 cc at a time. I hear most everyone else getting 2 or 3 .... well this morning I tried to down some applesauce and it basically pushed itself right back up. I'm a little concerned, after all it's only applesauce but I guess I'll give it another day and see if it is better tomorrow. Has anyone experienced this sort of "auto-purge" as I like to call it, after a fill.

I've had two fills...going for my third on Tuesday. I am pretty much the same as Angie4b1g. I have heck eating anything in the morning but my band seems to loosen during the day.

I am a little torn about getting the fill on Tuesday. I have had some things get stuck, but nothing I can't "walk out". I feel like I am still eating a little more than I should be. The scales are at a crawl right now. That said, I do not want to get too restricted...

That's how I feel exactly! I'm losing, just really slow. But I like that I can eat what my family is eating. I just wish I couldn't eat as much of it. LOL

Glad to know I am not alone!

My husband who was banded two weeks after me keeps saying that maybe I shouldn't get a fill....but like I said, I am still eating more than what I believe I should be. I think I am going to ask for a small fill and hope it isn't too much!!

I'm loosing extremely slow because up until Tuesday, I was feeling no restrictions at all and probably eating more than I should have.

After this fill (4cc's total) I can't seem to eat anything solid yet ... hopefully that will pass over the weekend. it's funny though - I have heard it called the sweet spot, maybe this is it ! I still have 6 more fills (1cc at a time (SIGH) to go. I guess I'm glad that he did it that way, better to be underfilled than overfilled but still it's been 6 months and only 30-35 lbs, I sure hope things kick in. Now that the weather is better I have to get off my ars and get moving - that should help with everything.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
