I am UPSET!!, DR. Krahn's staffs....(San Bernardino, CA)

Recommended Posts

Well....I called the office 5 days after getting home from the hospital and was told that I could advance to a diet of soft/tender chicken and fish and soft veggies and fruit - The nurse said it was a stage 3 Bariatric diet and she had the diet emailed to me. I started that diet and didn't experience any problem......Then....9 days later I went in for my first post op visit with Dr. Krahn and he asked how I was doing on the Liquid Protein diet. I said "what liquid Protein diet?" I should have been on liquid protein for 2 weeks after surgery so my stomach could heal and scar tissue can form on the back side of the stomach. so basically the nurse advanced me too soon - (She's new to the practice). So he put me on mushie food for the next 2 weeks. I've now advanced back to the soft chicken and fish and am hoping that no damage was done to the placement of the band. Will see how it goes!

I saw Dr. Krahn for my consult and haven't seen him since. In a year i've lost 20#. They werent sharing with me that my band has been losing fluid!!!

PLUS, they would schedule me out 2 months at a time for fills! SO, once they share with me that something is wrong with my band, they schedule me out 2 months again for port replacement (BTW- there has been NO testing to ensure it's the port over tubing, band, etc). SO, since I have NO restriction right now and a month to go, I called the office to get in for a fill. First, I had to leave a message that NO ONE called back on (surpise, surprise). SO I call back again a week later and get a live person to speak to. WHat happens? They say they have nothing and put me on a wait list.

I am done with Dr. Krahn's office and staff. I have an appointment today to see Dr. Owens.

I do not recommend Dr. Krahn until he cleans out his staff.

Dr. Krahn did my band in July 09. I didn't have to get referred to him specifically by my primary physician, just a referral for a lap band. You don't need to go to a doctor affiliated with him, just make sure your insurance covers him. My insurance at the time (Aetna) just required that I use a Center of Excellence, which he's affiliated with, St. Bernadine. I started seeing Dr. Krahn in September 2008, and I didn't have any of the problems the other posters have encountered.Good luck!

I live just down the road from you, my PCP recommended Cedars- Sinai and i went to their initial consultation and was very impressed

with the professionalism they exibited. After a few weeks of tests and classes I had my surgery there. This was the very best hospitable

I've been in in my entire life. The surgeon met with me three times and the day of surgery, he came to my room before and after, and

Called twice after surgery. When I left it was all hugs and kisses, you'd have thought I was a long lost uncle. This is the largest hospital

I've ever seen, also the best. I've had no pain, walked two miles the day after and have lost 50lbs in eight weeks. I have no hunger to

speak of, haven't had a fill, and may not if hunger isn't a problem. Give them a call and see if you're as impressed as I was. 310 4235619

I'm not a shill for them, just a very satisfied customer, by the way they're also a Center of Excellence.

I second all the above in regards to Corrigans post! I was very very impressed with the staff at Cedar Sinai in LA. Dr. Burch was in surgery the day I was there so I met with the PA Mary Alice! Love her! She spent over 45 minutes on my consult answering all my questions and concerns! I was also able to back my appointments up so that I was able to get 4 different appts. Done in one day. I live about 100 miles from the hospital so being able to get so much done on one visit was awesome! Wishing you all the best of luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
