I see there all others of you all in about the same place on your journeys as I am. I wish us all a quick journey to surgery and a speedy recovery. Maybe by the fall we'll all be new lap bandsters. Then we can talk about how much weight we are losing. It's all so exciting. It makes me feel better to talk with others here. Never have I felt so much in common with so many. Those of you who have been through it, you are such a big help to the rest of us. I look forward to reading many more posts. :glare:

Congrats on all your weight lost. Now you are looking forward to a Tummy Tuck. What a great place to be! Is your tt self pay? I hear sometimes you can sneak it by insurance but I don't imagine too often. Anyway it is great to hear from bandsters like you.:glare:

On the subject of TT...

I checked with my insurance to see if it was covered (I know, a little early to be thinking of that yet, but was just curious:rolleyes2:) and my policy said it will cover a TT if your skin hangs lower than your "privates". :scared2: WTH??? And who do I want looking at my giant roll of fat THAT closely?:confused2: Guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

But, on a funny note...sure am glad I'm not a man!! :blushing:

Don't worry. We are the same age and I had the surgery one week ago. I was nervous too, not so much about the appointments but about the surgery. If you don't have a known heart problem chances are that your heart is fine. The psch eval is nothing more then sitting down and talking about things that might come up with other people or yourself, I picked a women and lucked out because she had had it done six months before. Anyway there are a lot of steps before surgery but you will get there. Ask lots of questions, I assumed some things and I shouldn't have such as I woke up with three little incisions and one 3inch incisions. I was very surprised that I had the larger one but I didn't really ask, I just thought they all would be small.

Good luck.

Lisa

Kathy that provides quite a picture, I mean my stomach hanging down that far. Argh!!! I think I'll call my insurance and ask the tt question. Course I have a long way to go before I would need one. Good luck to you in your journey.

I know many of you have been in my shoes. I have my first surgical consult tomorrow and then my bariatric psych eval. I am wondering what the Doc will have to say. I am pretty sure I qualify and that my insurance will pay . I have been big and up and down for about 20 yrears or so and now I desperately want to be thin again. Why am I so worried about this appt? I expect him to say I need a six month diet. I wonder if he'll order a cardiac clearance and a sleep study. Do I really have to sleep with people watching me? My mother had open heart sugery at 57. Will I pass the cardiac clearance? And of course their is the psych eval. Will I pass or fail that? :) Can anyone give me some advice before I go to these 2 appts tomorrow? Something to calm the nerves. Help!

Hi,

I went and met my surgeon on 4/16 and all went well. My insurance company (BCBS) would be the one to say 6 mth. pre-op diet. He asked me if I snored and I of course said no because I may sometimes but I know I do not need a sleep study. I had to do everything else today. That included a Chest X-Ray, Gallbladder ultrasound, Upper GI (which sucked) and an EKG. I passed everything. My psyc apt. is today at 4pm so I am hoping all goes well with him. Once I finish with him all my paperwork will be sent to the insurance for approval. Don't worry... just think positive and pray that the Lord's will be done! You'll be fine!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
