My first cousin had LBS done by Dr. Kuri about 5 years ago and had nothing but wonderful things to say about him. She was so happy that she paid for her daughter to be banded by him about 4 years ago and they've both had great success and no problems. I can't quite remember how much she paid. If you want more info I can put you in touch with her. Send me a PM if you are interested.

hi-my surgery will be done by dr.kuri. so far i've had great service. when i call or email my ptc,i get a call back/email asap. i really haven't had to call his office direct, but i know of some people who call and get a call back from dr.kuri right away,or he himself will answer his own phone.

when i went to my consult with him,he made me feel at ease and answered all of my questions thoroughly. when i was riding in the elevator, i bumped into two of his patients (were there for fills) and they said nothing but wonderful things about him; it made it easier choosing him as my doctor from the other possible list of docs that i had.

he charges $7500.00. he does fills for free, but you have to pay the hospital directly a $100.00 fee. fee's for using the xray equipment, i'm guessing, since he does the fills under flouro. also, i cannot remember if the fee is $100.00, but i know its not more than that. still not bad, IMO.

when i researched docs, i was looking for all positives and negatives. which ever docs you're considering, look for the negatives, that helped me in making my choice. look and read about what patients have to say. pm them. also, beware of "fishy" looking posts from patient coordinators posing as patients; those people have no shame.

research,research,research.

good luck to you :huh2:

Hi Margret,

I had a consult with Dr. Kuri and was very impressed with him and the hospital. I am scheduling a surgery date in late August or early Sept.

I am 4'11" and weight 172, good luck.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
