*bangs head on desk*

Drama alert!!

OMG those people are retarded. I have been dealing with them for the last week and all I want is a RMA number to send the router in and get a new one. Not hard, I got the luck of the draw and managed to get the defective router. No big deal you would think .....

Oh no, last week they have been having me do the same things and nada, it does NOT work. But oh no, they wont listen to me, so today they finally escalate the problem to the next level and I am back on hold ....

:) :tt1:   :cursing:

I am ready to chuck the phone at the wall and say screw it and just call the 130 spent wasted and go buy a new one.

Pix;

Linksys is KNOWN for their lousy support. It's ironic, because they are owned by Cisco, who are well known for their world-class support (although Cisco support is for IT pros, and not consumers, they don't make much consumer gear.)

But don't give up on Linksys stuff. It's normally very good. It's consumer-class gear, but it's good enough so that we use it in many, many commercial environments.

If it's just a configuration issue and NOT a hardware malfunction, there are PLENTY of places on the 'net where you can get questions answered and directions for configuration.

Getting a bad piece of gear is a given on occasion, but I would would stick with Linksys. Netgear is the other Very Good product in that class. Dlink is a third choice, but I would choose the other two first. D-Link will ultimately be a good product, but they are still rising from their "junk" days! :tongue_smilie:

HH, I am a tech support person, I dealt with Linksys on a professional and consumer level all the time when I was in the industry. It has always been and most likely always will be a /head desk experiance with them until they decide outsourcing isn't the way to go.

Personally I prefer Belkin, as my 'personal product' of choice. D-Link is still in its infancy has tons of room for growth, other then that it is a good company. Netgear, I wont touch with a ten foot pole. Microsoft only if I have to (and that was job related so I don't have to anymore). Linksys the only reason I stear clear of the home office products IS because of the tech support. Other then that it is a a good company, as long as you don't ever need to call them. But I got the bad luck draw and got the bad router of the batch. I just want my RMA number so I can send it in and get a new one. Thats all, I am still tussling with them to get the RMA number

Oh, Ok, you're a tech guy so then you know what you're doin'!

Didn't know if you were a consumer-grade kind of guy and just having problems or what,...but since you're a pro, you don't need any help from me!

I like Belkin for consumer grade stuff, although I hardly ever use it. I like them mostly for all the cool little accessories they make for tech stuff. I also like them as a company. I remember at the old COMDEX shows I used to stop by their booth and chat with their reps. Really, really nice and helpful people, a lot more so than many of the other companies that make the same stuff.

I surprised that you don't like Netgear. I've had good luck with most of their stuff. I really like the little blue 4/5/8 port switches they make. They are really solid, made of metal. Perfect for environments where we have to add a few connections, and it's a situation where someone might step on the box or something.

Tell me about why you don't like Netgear....you might have some info I can use!

well first off, Pix is female .. hence the ticker that is counting down my husbands return from deployment.

Just don't like netgear, its a personal choice. Saw to many issues with there product when I was actively working in IT (now just contract work on the side). One of the other guys on contract with the company swears by it, and wont touch linksys with a ten foot pole. Just personal thats all (mainly all the stuff I got that was netgear went back PDQ cause it was inadequate and/or a piece of junk).

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
