1st fill today, confused on what happened

Recommended Posts

hi all,

ok, had my 1st fill today and i'm a bit confused. i laid down and he numbed the tummy area and kinda started pushing around until he felt my port...basically was kneading and poking the needle around in the same 4 inch area for about 7 minutes. my entire tummy still is a little tender, so it was hard for me to know exactly where he was....

anyway, i have the average 4 small incisions and 1 decent sized one in the middle where i assumed they installed the port during surgery, especially because i can feel a hard, defined lump under the scar, must be a port, right? so all goes well, he puts a bandaid on, and i leave. getting home, i look in the mirror, and where he did the fill is about 3-4 inches lower than where i thought the port was! i CAN feel a lumpy spot where he put the needle..so now i'm confused.

Question: Where the heck is the port if not under the big, main scar?

Q2: If the lumpy thing 3 inches lower than my big scar is the port, what is the hard lump right under the scar?!?

PS-Doc is out of town starting today thru next week, so i'd appreciate your advice while i wait a week to call him.

Your port is actually under that scar. When you are lying down, it moves below the scar. My doctor has done all of my fills under fleuro in the endocopy dept of the main hospital. He can see exactly were the port is and were to put the needle. So he don't have to poke around and guess where anything is. I like that about him too.

Hugs,

Tammy P

Could the hard area under the scar be scar tissue? I have had 3 c-sections and along the scar line, it's hard all the way across.

My port is just under and a little to the side of the main scar when I lie down. It took a while for them to find it the first time, it gets easier.

hard lump under the scar is scar tissue. The port is put through that big incision but sometimes placed/stitched to the muscle a few inches below that scar.

As you lose weight it also might appear that your port is moving...although it's just your skin now.

My fill poke used to be 2 inches below my scar. Now since i have lost weight and my skin has moved, the fill poke is almost on top of my scar.

yah as you lay down your skin moves so when you stand up the skin is in a different place. did anyone look at their fill area close? I have the poke where she numbed the area and then I have four needle holes in a perfect square. It is as if the injection needle has four needles to pierce the port with even pressure. Anyone know what I am talking about? g2s

My fills are done about 1.5 inches below my port scar. Maybe your port is really tilted so he had to inject on a sharp angle?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
