This is the thinnest I have ever been cloths are smaller and I FEEL GREAT. I feel that this procedure saved my life. I thank Dr Spivak from the bottom of my heart.

Is there an age limit for the surgery that you know if?

Marleen, welcome to LBT and thanks for sharing your success!! Have you had any problems or concerns along the way? If you like, we'd love to hear a little more of your story.

Gram, there's no specific age limit for banding that I've ever heard of, but obviously your doctors will need to evaluate your general state of health before recommending you for surgery. But I know of people in their late 60s who have had it done. There's no reason to discount it as an option just because of a few extra years!

I can only imagine how trilled you must be lossing so much weight and keeping it off.

Congraulations and a high five to you!!!

Thanks for posting and showing us that the band is the real deal not just another fad diet. Too many of thoses out there.

Marleen you should be very proud, that is an amazing job you have done with your band. I too would love to hear some of your stories.

Gram - I know some doctors cut people off at 64, but I also know some that are getting surgery in their 70's! I think that is super!

Marleen, that's wonderful! I love Dr. Spivak! I hope I can be as successful as you!

Gram, Harley's Nana's mother is getting a band and she's 73. I bet you could pm her for some helpful info.

My doctor was doing a 12 yr old when I was there! I thought that was really neat.

Gram, it depends on your overall health and your doctor. Like Marie said, my mom is getting banded April 7th. She had to do a few extra test that I didn't have to do, like the heart stress test. She passed with flying colors, so next Thursday she'll be one of bandster. Good luck on your decision.

I went for the last of my tests yesterday. I have 4 more lbs. to loose, then they send my letter and stuff to the insurance co. for approval. I think that's how it goes. Am I right?

Is anyone out there from the Albany area?

Gram, my mom sailed through the surgery on Thursday, she even went to my aunt's 80th birthday party today and nobody even suspected she'd been operated on. She did great, good luck.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
