Hello All - day 1 of liquid diet!

Recommended Posts

I lost something like 23 lbs during my 10 day liquid diet, but my docs diet was very strict (protein shakes for meals, Water and crystal light only between shakes. After 3 days, I was allowed to replace one "meal" - shake- with a small veg only garden salad). It helped me to know that the reason for the fast was to make my operation more safe (by reducing the size of the liver). I'm sure your doc has already explained all that to you. You can do it.

I had asked you what the preop diet consists of because I thought that I would have to do the same but my surgeon states that he doesn't require it. He says that he wants me to be well nourished at the time of surgery and if I went on a liquid diet beforehand it stresses the body out. Interesting huh? I'm also from Az. (Tucson)

Wow that's very different! :huh2:But i know that also, some surgeons ask for EGN? where they check your stomach and sometimes they take a biopsy... and others don't require it. I guess different practices.. when are you getting banded alsorl?

Hi all!

Azsungirl, I will also be banded on the 29th of this month. I am excited, and nervous. I start liquid on Thurday. know it will be hard, but don't want to take any chances with the liver thing. I also keep thinking about 4-5 weeks of liquids and mushies post-op.

We are looking forward to the rest of our lives!

Hang in there. It is tough but you all can get through, I lost 21 pounds on my 10 day pre-surgery liquids. I did EAS shakes and a few slimfast high Protein, sugar free popsicles, sugar free pudding, lots and lots of Crystal light. It has been 6 months and I have lost 70 pounds! I have 65 to goal, but maybe go further, we will see. You all can do it, remember to get out in walk even if for 10 minutes here and there. We all have set backs don not get defeated!:tongue_smilie:

AZSUN,

I will be totally pulling for you .. If you have a minute I would love to know what happend with WLIZ. I am getting so frustrated with the insurance people there. I found them very rude. So I am having second thoughts .. That is what is wonderful about this site we totally hear the good and the bad ..

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
