Would I be correct if I said...

:sneaky:If you stray away from what your Doctor has instructed you to eat pre-op and post op. You will have problems feeling restricted? Because it seems as if the one's that are having slight restriction issues are the one's that started eating normal too early. I may be wrong, if so plz correct me. I am in no means saying that it is easy to be on liquids only for 2-weeks prior, & 2-weeks after the procedure. But one thing I can say is that I am learning from everyone on the post op board because there are things that should not be eaten period. Don't waste your time, & energy if you are not going to fight thru the temptations. Resist the craving and it will soon go away. If you drink soda you are defeating the purpose. If you eat any solid foods prior to week 4 post op.. you will have problems feeling the restriction. For peets sake you ate regular foods 2-early so while your stomach was in the healing process you streched it too much which may cause the band not to work properly. We all must remember that the Band is a TOOL like a hammer is when u are building a home. If u don't use it the correct way u wont be able to push the nail thru, the same goes with the band if u eat things you shouldn't how will u loose weight and get the proper restriction?

Well, I'm not sure if that's true or not. Everyone heals at a different rate, so it's hard to say if they started too soon or not.

I can't, however, imagine WHY someone would 'cheat' on their post op diet. I was scared to death I was going to slip my band or something! Hell, I eat carefully even now, 2 months later! I didn't stick to my post-op because I was a model patient, I stuck to it because I was terrified not to!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
