I feel as though my progress is going to take forever. I thought that I had it good with AETNA POS II as my insurance. I didn't think that this process would take longer than just a few months. I started my process in January. Attended the seminar the end of January and had my meeting with the surgeon 2 weeks later. Then had to wait a month and a half for my first appt with the nutritionist. I have now found out that I have to see the nutritionist for six solid months and while I see her I have to get a sleep study done, see a psychiatriatrist and get some more documentation before they will even send anything to my insurance for approval. I am looking at the end of September/October before I get my surgery!

I am so frustrated! I want it done now and if I had the 21,000 dollars I would just schedule it on Monday! I have done all the research (for the past 4 months) and know that this is what I want to do.

Sorry for venting. I am sure that this is normal, I am just ready to move forward with the process and it feels as though there is concrete at my feet!

I feel your frustration as I wanted my surgery done like yesterday too. I guess the doctor needs to make sure all bases are covered.

I can totally feel your frustration!! 2 weeks after I found out insurance was going to cover I got PART II of the news. . .I have to do a 6 month supervised diet and exercise program. The surgerical center says I can begin all those tests in mid-summer so that I'm ready for surgery in October. I went thru depression, disappointment and finally decided to use this time positively. I don't know about you but I have been a big girl alllll my life. . .what's another few months? I'll use this time to get my body and mind healthy for surgery. Hopefully you'll see the silver lining of your cloud too! My support and hugs go out to ya! Stay positive and here's to hoping both of our "waiting time" flies by!!

Thanks for the supportive comments.

I just started watching what I eat today. In addition to seeing the nutritionist I have found out that I am hypoglycemic and need to go on a special diet for that. I will try to stay positive and work through this. I have a call into the surgeon's office to give me some clarity as to when my next appointments will be scheduled. I don't want to fall through the cracks.

Although, it is difficult to wait, there are cheaper surgeons out there. I had my surgery with Dr.Kirshenbaum, in Aurora, Colorado. His price was $9975.00 that included everything.

Maybe this could be an option? If not, just keep moving forward. Insurance is horribly slow, but it will get here and you will be in band land before you know it!

I started my process Last July and was very quick in providing EVERYTHING my insurance co. asked for. My surgery is tomorrow. I was approved (this time) quickly, at least I think so. I would advise anyone thinking about this to NOT expect anything in less than a year. I'm afraid a lot insurance companies use the taking forever tactic to try to discourage you and for you to quit trying. But dont! If you follow the rules and are in the guidelines for the surgery it will happen. It will be worth it. I started trying to get any type of bariatric surgery in 2003. Have been denied up until now.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
