What do you do with your old clothes??

Recommended Posts

I have 5 huge yard trash bags full of clothes that are too big for me. Sadly, some still have the tags on them.

What do you all do with your old clothes???

you might check if they are any women's shelters in your area , like for abused women , it might help someone get a job to get back on their feet.

Hi Tulip:

We have a clothing exchange through our support group. I also have donated my clothes in the past. (I haven't lost enough weight yet to give any of my current clothes away!)

You could also do the garage sale thing. (Not for me, but if you have new stuff, it might be worth it)

We talked about doing a clothes swap on here - but it never got off the ground. You could post the sizes they are and the area you are in - then if someone wants them they could pay for shipping and a small fee for your trouble. I plan to do that when I get to that point. :-)

Over the past years I have donated a bunch of clothes to a local women's transition house - perhaps they have something like that in your area.

My surgeon has a local support group that meets monthly. I take my clothes with me to group and offer them up to people who are in different stages.

you could take them to a womens consignment store and either use the credit to get clothes from there in your NEW  size, or you can take the cash from them. I plan to do that while I'm losing, just keep swaping out the clothes that become too big for me for smaller ones with my credit, and then when I'm at goal, I'll go shopping at my fav stores!

With me I donate most of the clothes that don't fit anymore. Although I still keep a few things just in case I gain/lose weight again.

We have a monthly support group meeting at a local mall and I take mine to give away there. I just packed up my box for tomorrow tonight... it's kind of freaking me out to have all of my "old faithfuls" going away. There are still some in my closet I can't bear to part with... but I'm working on it :-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
