Hi everyone! Well, tomorrow is the big day. Hey - I wonder how Princess in the P is because she had her's today....

If you can believe it - my doctor's office called me at 5:30pm tonight to say "sit down, I have bad news". They said they were arguing with my insurance company for 45 minutes because UHC called to say they weren't covering my surgery. They said my employer doesn't have WLS coverage. Now can you believe that? I have at least 9 people in my office that has had the procedure and all were covered. So, after several frantic phone calls later and with heart beating A MILE a MINUTE and shaking I was so upset the office called back to say it was a mistake. UHC thought I was having the surgery at the facility not covered under my insurance and were not aware the office had changed locations. All is well now but it really made me think about how much I do want this. It was a small blessing in disguise because it just further confirmed this is the right thing to do.

So, I told the dr. office I was going to have a big shot of vodka and she said "go for it!". Well I did and finally calmed down about an hour later. So, having my last meal tonight - a gyro (gosh I love those) and boy was it good.

Talk to you soon as I'm able...Laura

Good Luck Laura, I'm so happy for you. You'll do great, after all, that's my birthday. Please give us a quick post when you're up to it. My mom goes in a couple of weeks, April 7th for her band. .

I don't know what I was thinking for my last "meal", I had a waffle, and it wasn't even good, although the company was great, my son and two grandsons. A gyro, mmmm that does sound good. You'll be able to eat it again, just not for a while.

I wish you the berry best.

Hi all! Thanks for all the great thoughts. Doing pretty well but the gas pain in the chest is ugly. Using the heating pad as recommended by everyone and it really helps. Sweet Dr. Carter told my DH everything went great without incident and I was smiling in recovery! I don't remember wanting to smile but I guess I was so happy to be finally done.

My wonderful DH has been great. Even slept on the floor of our guest room with me (I didn't want to share the bed with the dog and cats upstairs). I've been up and moving around and I must say it was a much easier surgery than my 2 caesareans (sp?). Little pain in the port area and my stomach looks like a bulls eye with 6 holes. Using ice on the port area sitting up in the family room with my laptop. Suprisingly I'm getting some gurlges like I'm hungry and so happy things are actually staying down and going down as planned!

Well, thanks again for everyone's thoughts and prayers. I couldn't have done without all of you! You all are FANTASTIC! Talk to you soon! Laura

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
