I have got to get my head in the game!

So I was banded on 2/27 and for some reason, my doctor has you wait 7 weeks for a fill. That means I don't get a fill until 4/16! I haven't had any type of restriction in about 2 weeks or better. I can eat everything just fine. And yes I know just because I can doesn't mean I should. I really am trying to eat better, and I've been doing an okay job at it. But I'm sure not loosing, except for the same 2 lbs. over and over again. I'm getting really worried that this isn't gonna work for me since I haven't lost anything since moving off of liquids! Please tell me that this is only temporary. I know that I haven't made the best food choices, but I've been a heck of a lot better than I was pre-band. I am eating less, but it is really just from will power, not restriction. I really want my fill now!

You are doing great though.. and yes, once you get your fill you will start to lose again... I did the same exact thing you did.. go up and down with the same two pounds. When I got my fill I started losing almost a pound a day.. but now my fill has already worn off after just a week and now I'm just stuck at this weight after gaining back a pound. But, I thought the same exact thing you did and your fill will change everything if you have even some restriction. All said and done, I lost 4 pounds in one week with the fill and that aint bad! Unfortunately I have to wait 8 more days for my next fill, so I'll have to be strong again..

I lost very quickly right after surgery, about 17 lbs in 10 days. Then I leveled out, then actually gained 8 lbs! The dr thought I was retaining Water, but some was probably from going to solids and from being able to eat more because I had no restriction. Anyway, once I got my fill, those 8 lbs dropped back off and I've lost about 7 more. I didn't think I was eating that much (and compared to pre-surgery, I wasn't) but I do eat much less now that I've had a fill and have some restriction. My doctor said that he doesn't even pay attention to weight loss until after the first adjustment.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
