I would think the more often u eat with the small amounts that will boost up your metabolism that will speed up the weight loss... R u just on liquids or soft foods also? If you are still on liquids I would suggest prehaps adding more protien to your shakes... and this may help to keep u fuller longer..

I was able to eat 8 oz until I got my first fill (5cc's on a 10cc band) - now 4 oz is definitely enough! I think that if you are at your right restriction, 4 oz is about right.

I was banded on 4/3/06 and lost 86 lbs. in less than a year. I have always been able to eat more than 4 oz at a meal. Every time I told my doctor that he gave me another fill. Well I have a 4 cc band and I have 3.5 cc in it. I can (for the last 6 months) eat without restriction, and it doesn't matter if I swallow my food in large pieces or chew throughly. I am going to see my doctor on Friday (4-4) for my last fill, I am hoping that I will feel restricted again so I can loss the rest of my weight!!

I have not had a fill. I can eat about a cup of food as long as I chew well. If I don't chew enough two bites will start hurting. I get my first fill tomorrow so I hope I have a little more restricition. I have been losing and gaining the same pound for about a week.

I am eating about a cup at a time. I however haven't had my first fill yet so that may change.

HI, I was banded on March 24 and am eating 2oz per meal. When does it change to 4 oz?

when your doctor tells you it's OK!

I had my surgery on March 24 ! I eat 3/4 cup of food at a time with no problems. My stomach is starting to rumble the last couple of days, so I am wondering with my next dr. apt. on april 10 if I get a fill? I finally got rid of the shoulder pain from the gas. did you have that problem? I am still on mushies until next monday, but I did eat salmon fillet tonight, with no problem.

I think the poll needs to be

4 oz is not enough, have had fills but I'm not at sweet spot

4 oz is enough, I'm at my sweet spot.

4oz is not enough and I'm at my sweet spot.

I voted not enough - cuz for me mentally eating 1/2 a cup of food per meal it's not enough and imho don't think it's too healthy either..

I would say I am at my sweet spot - I eat 4 oz of fish, 1/2 c rice, 1/2 cup veggies for dinner every night - so I eat about 1 1/2 for dinner - Breakfast and lunch is usually 1 cup each meal - some days I have Snacks some days I don't.

My doc didn't really give me a limit per meal - he wants me to eat - feel full and stop - in the begining and sometimes still - I have a hard time distigushing between head hunger and real hunger. I can eat dinner be full but looking in the kitchen for something to eat - I ususally will make a snack size popcorn and eat one piece at a time - this usually works for me..

As long as you are eating healthy - low fat - sugar free - you should be ok - If I am hungry still when I have eaten my dinner I will just eat extra veggies to me veggies are free foods since they are so low in calories..

This is how I have used my band - and adjusted to my new lifetime lifestyle eating and it's working for me..

I'd have to say not enough.

When I was actively losing weight (at a guess) I was eating roughly a cup or more of food at a sitting.

For my money, it was more about what I was eating, and how long I was staying full for.

These days, I would starve to death on 4oz of food.< /p>

My doc says 3-4oz of Protein and a half cup of veggies per meal. Im only 2 1/2 weeks post op and I can't really eat that much per meal yet, but I get hungry pretty quickly. Four weeks until my first fill.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
