Had my surgery cancelled!!!

Recommended Posts

Yvonne... something similar happend to me.. well.. different but I also got cancelled it was really depressing.. I went in and the hospital was in "Crisis Mode" which meant they had no bed for me (I required an overnight stay) and so I had to reschedule for the next week, when I got there the next week they didn't have me on the schedule! Very frustrating, It's a huge let down because you have to work yourself up mentally and then to be let down... I'm sorry that happend to you.. just take it as one of those things that wasn't meant to be.. and plan ahead for your next date! Good Luck!

thanks for all the kind words. This forum is great. I will call tomarrow and see what they can do for me since i was cancelled twice..

I will let all know what they say.

Tina from Kentucky:thumbup:

I think they should offer you the royal VIP FREE treatment?????At least a year of free fills or something??? I'm not really kidding...I mean they act as if your time isn't valuable...If I had taken off from school with a sub lined up and all that would have been from my sick leave or I'd pay for the sub....

I think it is terrible and I wish you the best of luck...let us know what they say....If we don't give a 24 hour cancellation notice we get charged the copay???

I am sooo sorry for your cancelation. I was canceled the night before my surgery. Had been on the two week liquid diet also, and 24 Clear Liquids. No one could understand my disapointment, you have to have your mind in the right place.. and I was there.. ready to go. Unfortunitly, My cancelation was due to medical problem they found. Hyperparathyriodism, in which I had to have a Parathyroid removed before I could continue with the band.4 months later I was banded. It was so worth the wait. So hang in there, I can tell you that you will be so glad you waited it out. Take a deep breath....... IT WILL HAPPEN.

I am so sorry that happened to you. With all the physical and emotional preparation that goes into facing surgery, to have it cancelled twice is just awful. I would be really upset. They ought to do it for you for free.

Oh that stinks! On the other hand, I'm not sure I'd want my dr to operate on me if he had a Migraine. I get those and it's not pretty. How terrible that they brought you in a second time without first getting their team together! At least you know it will happen. Hang in there. Keep thinking about where you will be a year from now. How exciting!

Ok now that scares me..they better not cancel on me for my surgery. I had to take time off of work and they had to set up someone to cover for me for the 2 weeks I will be off from the day of surgery. That will screw everything up if it gets cancelled. How often does this happen??

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
