Getting lots of stuff stuck!

Recommended Posts

I am two months post op, and have had two fills. I have 7 cc in a 10 cc band, which they tell me is pretty good for such a short time after surgery. Thing is, I'm getting lots of stuff stuck since this last fill. Whatever isn't getting stuck is passing right through the band, so I don't get full on the tiny portions I'm allotted. I haven't been eating anything on the no-no list, but I'm still having trouble remembering to chew well sometimes. I am yet to experience that wonderful "don't give a crap about food" feeling that I had for the first few days after surgery. Will that come with more fills? Or will I just have more and more problems with sticking the more fills that I get?

I always care about food. You will experience more food intolerance the more restricted you are. Also, mistakes such as chewing and speed of eating are less forgiven when you are more restricted. Slow down and think when you are eating and you will have fewer problems.

I have experienced the same issues with food getting stuck often. Its not much but seem to be more frequent after my last fill about 3+ weeks ago. I definitely know when I haven't chewed enough because that it when it really gets stuck. Eating slower is also an ongoing challege for me. I am a mother of 3 busy kids and always on the run. I work on chewing and eating slower every day and just make myself aware of this to help me in the long run. I have a 14cc band and only recently (at my last fill) feel some sort of restriction. I would say that I haven't hit my so-called sweet spot yet, but feel I am almost there. My total fills are at 8cc.

I totally understand what you are saying about the full issue. At times, I am not sure either. They only way I really know is when I end up getting food stuck. These are the challeges that we have to keep in mind. As everybody is different, go by what your body is telling you. Hang in there and I wish you luck.

Hi there, I find that since my 4th fill 10 in a 14 fill band, that I get more and more stuff stuck and its all down to me, I'm finding it hard to change the habbits of a lifetime - gulping food down half chewed - what a gennet, no wonder I had to have a band fitted then..... LOL, I have to set aside time for me to eat now. My husband Paul, now comes second as I sit there and take as much time as possible to eat my meal. Its seams so long and drawn out, and I dont like food thats cold either so it keeps going back in the microwave. What I'm going through to loose 4 1/2 stone I dont know. Could you not set up a space near your computer and do things on it as you eat or play cards on the computer, thats what I do sometimes and it does work.

good luck sweety

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
