What's Crappenin' Everyone?

Glad to see people are doing well. I just had a quick question for some of the vets on the board.

Dr. Robinson @ BWH has scheduled me for surgery on 3/17/2010. His Office Manager (can't remember her name but she is an absolute sweetheart) said she would submit the request for approval to my Insurance Company, Harvar Pilgrim. My question is, about how long does it take to actually hear something from the company? And, if I were to hear anything, would it be from them or Dr. Robinson's office? From what I have heard, HPHC is one of the easier companies to get approval from. Thanks in advance!

After feeling great that I finally made it to the meeting on Monday, everything went downhill - I was always tight, up a whole night coughing, and just felt that something was not right. I called the office on Thursday morning and went in for an unfill. The nurse took out 1 1/2cc, putting me at 7cc. WOW what a difference I feel soooo much better now. I also have to take prilosec for the month and go for an upper GI I will have to call the office so that they can set it up for me.

I know I should have gone in earlier and not wait the few days I did but I am sure glad I had this unfill and hope it wont cause me to gain too much weight!!!!

Tova-glad your feeling better now. So are you having reflux. Somebody on another thread here told me I sound like i may have reflux. ( the tight lump feeling in my throat). It is not constant anymore now.

I'm really feeling like I am failing w/ my band. I just feel like I'm in the same place I was w/out it (mentally). I wish it could fix the head hunger & everything inside me that wants to eat. I mean who doesn't wanna eat the "bad" food? !?! It sucks!

I guess I never know what reflux felt like - but feeling bettter now I realize that the tightness that I felt was really not normal.

My issue for today is terrrible pain in my shoulder -

bluesame getting the approvalwasnt as big as of an a deal as I thought it would be.

Sorry to hear that Tova, did you recently have a fill? Is the shoulder pain gas? It could be your diaphragm being sore?

Heidi try prolosec otc for a few days...did you have a bad stuck episode? If not I might suggest a slight unfill just to let things settled down a bit.

Well after last weeks meeting it all went down hill for me too. All that talk I had about having time to work on me went out the window. First got hit with a time consuming project at work..then I got sick.... skipped the gym....then I ended up stress eating. :)

Since my unfill before xmas Im pretty much able to eat anything with no intolerances and while I feel good....Im not losing any weight at all. I join in everyone's frustrations.

So today felt like back to square one all over again.

Mel,

I havent had a fill in I dont know how long, it is definitely gas pains, and I am being more careful with it, yesterday was a much better day. When I was at the chiropractor the other day he also mentioned diaghram soreness and he is really helping me. I feel much better, but I realize that I really have to watch myself and stay on target with my eating and exercise

Thanks for the suggestion Mel. :-) It's not as bad as it was before. There's no burning either. It seems to get worse when I'm stressed.

I have not had a fill in awhile & can eat just about anything on some days. I don't want to get a fill & be too tight either. I just need to have a little will power! I was fooling around w/ low carb but that's not working. I'm just gonna go back to regular eating w/ smaller portions. My problem is sticking to it longer then 5 days! :-)

Has anyone had this happen to them?

Today at lunch... I wasn't stuck, but I had an odd bubble thing, lasted just a few seconds, felt something not go down quite right, a loud burp and everything seemed fine. But i've had hiccups since then, which would make it about 10 hours now. I don't know if this is a band thing or just an annoying body thing.

On a lighter note, at least you're not these folks:

American man Charles Osborne had the hiccups for 68 years, from 1922 to 1990, and was entered in the Guinness World Records as the man with the Longest Attack of Hiccups.[11]

In 2007, a teenager from Florida in the United States hiccuped around 50 times a minute for more than five weeks.[12] After her hiccups returned, her neurologist suggested that she may have Tourette syndrome, and the hiccups may be a "tic" caused by Tourette's.[13]

Christopher Sands from the UK had hiccups for a period of almost three years which was eventually discovered to be due to a tumor located on the part of the brain that controls vascular activities, once 2/3 of the tumor was removed the hiccups appeared to settle and Sands no longer suffers from his condition

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
