Oops...I forgot. I have to log off now in that case. I'll be back when I'm at goal.

Damn!

Then I'll be too skinny for other complainers.

I guess I can't win.

Pix----that complaint won't work----many bandsters are worrying about losing hair--so styling is not something you can complain about!!! LMAO-----

I did both! My hair fell out horribly, and I complained about what little I had left---I am surprised it didn't fall out just to show me!!!

G -

at 228 you're not fat in my book... does that count?

Ahhh! YES! You're book is my bible! It's funny, because after being 300# for so long, I feel thin! But, then I'll see a picture and be like, "Oh - yeah, still fat!"

And, sad to say it's now 229-230 - but I go for another fill today! Woohoo.

Dummies, you don't need to worry about hairloss. Just go buy $50/bottle Shampoo and slather it on because we all know that when your hair falls out, putting stuff on it helps... then take a bunch of vitmains and supplements you're probably not even deficient on (but you might want to hope taking all the supplements when you don't need them doesn't put you into a dangerous state of excess). Once you do that, eat more Protein. Crimeny, only 180gm/day? Don't you realize that's going to make your hair fall out? You need at least 300. And the less of it you burn, the better, or you'll just lose more hair, so you better lay on the couch and watch TV. Then in 3 months when your hair cycle shifts and you notice all these 1/4" hairs popping out of nowhere, you can come post so the rest of the hair LOOSERS go buy your $50/bottle shampoo, and swear to the next generation of bandsters that all of the above REALLY DID HELP!

Oldie noobs. I'm so outtie.

My daughter gets grumpy with that, too. I've fried my hair so much over the years that my hair just hangs there no matter what I do.

I just bought a Chi - for my daughter, but I didn't tell her that. She's 10 and will take it to her room and it will be gone. So, it's in my bathroom, safe and sound where all $150 investments should be!

It works pretty well with her hair, which is thick and curly. When she lets it dry normal it hangs like little ringlets around her face. I love it sooo much, but she wants it straight as a board.

Youth is wasted on the young!

Cloucster, there's a Chi (and others but I know Chi has one) straightening treatment, it's like a 6 hour thing ("thermal reconditioning"), but even ringlet-curly hair comes out beautiful and shiny and straight, and stays that way, even when you let it air dry. You have to get curly roots touched up, maybe twice a year. It's not cheap, but if I wanted straight hair I'd do it in a heartbeat, the results are so awesome.

It's a permanent thing once they do it, your hair is straight. But the new hair is still curly, which is why you have to get the roots touched up. A girlfriend of mine does this. She went once 3 years ago and had it done (at Penny's when they had a half-price perm sale, which applied to this even though it's not really a perm), adn she has gone back about 4 or 5 times to have her curly roots straightened, but the bulk of her hair is still straight.

The day she got it done, she went swimming. Got out of the Water, and her hair dried completely straight (she has uber thick, kinky curly hair).

When her roots need to be done, she uses the straightener until she can get into the salon. Other than that, all she does is blow dry or air dry.

I think it was ~300 for the big treatment, and 50ish for root follow-ups, but it beats having to straighten every day, worry about humidity, etc.

Wow...thanks! I'm going to check around here for it. Her b-day is coming up and I know she'd love to have that done.

If you are into a lower cal version of the jalapeno popper...it's easy and very good. Need a grill, not a fryer. Take jalapeno (can use mild or hot), stuff with low fat mozarella (sp). Take two pieces of salami, wrap around the pepper and grill until cheese is melted. A lot of the fat in the salami cooks off. I dab with paper towel to get rest of fat off. The salami gets a little crispy. A great low fat version of the original.

OMG. Now I know what I'm having for dinner tonight. My stomach is growling like a bear right now after reading the 20-page discussion on fast food. I'm heading home to eat ,my 3 oz of tuna on miultigrain crackers. Sigh!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
