think of how happy you'd be with 7 lbs in 5 days before this? Of course its fine. I don't think it shoulod hurt when you burp...how many days post op are you? I was banded on 3/12 and really feel very little surgically.

good luck

sharon:)

I burp all the time since I have been banded. All bandsters seem to burp more since we have been banded. I can't tell you why this is, but I don't think it matters much.

I am sure it won't hurt to burp once you are healed. If you are hungry, you need Protein. Has your doctor put you on Protein drinks?

A few days after surgery I could feel the urge to burp but it was painful & nothing came out...I kept waiting for the sound..but nothing came...after about 6 days of freaky out that I couldnt burp I talked to my Dr on the phone...he said the burping thing is no big deal & it happens to some... I dont have any problem passing gas the other way...LOL

I can't believe some folks can't burp. I have to watch it or I could embarrass myself. I have always been able to burp really well. Now the burps have changed a bit. It's like they are deeper and frankly last a really long time.

Alright, this is what the pains are from. I am a nurse and I have witnessed lapband surgery for gallbladder. When they place the tools into your abdomen they fill your big fat old stomach up with "gas" like substance in order to have room to use the tools. Depending on how much they put in and how much escapes before "aborting" your surgery you are left with the gas discipating after surgery. It is common to have left shoulder pain after surgery and sometimes just rumbling in your belly. The more you walk the more the gas is released. It is normal.

I agree, I have no problem burping...but if I eat too much I do find myself having the urge to burp and nothing comes out and thus feeling uncomfortable. We are just beginning...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
