Dr. Miles or Dr. Schmitt patients

Recommended Posts

I am a retired psych nurse and when I worked I had a lot of patients that were on Zoloft. It's an effective and well tolerated drug. It won't make you gain weight! It is used for anxiety, panic disorders, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Some women get relief from PMDD right away and others require a little longer. In the last 15 years, it has been found to be a safe drug. If you want to know more about it, go to www.zoloft.com. Good luck. Hope to see you at support this month.

Hi Everyone,

I went to Dr. Miles this week for my first fill since having the surgery to remove the scar tissue. I was so relieved to see that he was able to pull Fluid out and then put it all back in. This is the first time since my surgery that I feel restriction. I can't eat nearly as much and it feels good to finally be on track. I hope everyone is doing well.

Deb

Glad you are doing good Deb. Now you can be on your way to your goal.

So far so good with the Zoloft. My hunger did seem to subside almost immediately. So now I am back to "normal" (whatever that is).

Wow Kanina, looks like you are on a roll! You go girl! 95lbs is AWESOME!!

Time to start prepping for Thanksgiving. So for those of you who are celebrating your first "banded" holiday, how are preparing yourself? Just bringing the idea to light, cuz I know that sometimes I forget that others look to this board for advice and information.

I can say my first holiday season went okay. I just sampled all of my favorites (maybe a tsp of each). It is funny when I think about how my plates used to look at Thanksgiving. Then to think I would go back for 2nds and 3rds.

Well I hope everyone has a great day!!

=)

HAHA, yeah my wt loss just comes in spurts I dont really understand it myself.

Everyone must be doing great its been so quiet on here :tongue_smilie:

I know me personally for the holidays I make sure I get my turkey first and then I pick like 2 or 3 other things that I just gotta have and then I say Im gonna have a bite of dessert but I know last year all I ate was my turkey not all of my family members know I have had surgery and tomorrow I will see my husbands granddad whom I havent seen in about 2 years so it will be interesting the comments that come across but if they ask I'll tell I dont mind anymore!!!

It was funny last year to see my plate compared to everyone elses....I prob didnt have 1/3 of my plate covered with food and I know several of my family members had 2 plates piled high I was like WOW that used to be me!!!

On a side note I called the plastic surgeon today 3400 for brachioplasty...if I have the equity on my second mortgage which I am sure we do I may be having this done in january!!! KEEP your fingers crossed!!!!!

Good Morning Everyone! It's a sunny day here in Ragland and I'm feeling fine. I am still losing but it's so slow! Guess I will have to get use to it. I go for my third fill on Wednesday and am hoping to feel some sort of restriction this time. I haven't felt one yet and any weight loss has been my own determination.

I am hoping that Dr Miles will let me start my exercise now. He said that b/c I had so much problems with my legs and breathing to wait until I had lost about 40-50 pounds. I am on top of 40 pounds now and this armchair exercise isn't enough. I joined the YMCA and wanted to start some sort of Water exercise but you have to actually GO there to be able to use it and my life isn't my own right now. Maybe next week.

I am looking forward to T'givings and planning to eat turkey and maybe a tablespoon of dressing. No dessert for me! I have sworn off sweets. The funny thing about me is that when I see excessive amounts of foods, it turns me off from wanting to eat very much. My family will make up the difference for me.

I will be at support group on the 21st and hope to see everyone there. Take care and have a good week.

WELL.......I finally went back to my doc and had a slight unfill....I REALLY REALLY didnt want to but when you cant even get down mashed potatoes comfortably I knew it was time...I guess all those antibiotics really screwed my stomach up....he only took out .25cc which I was grateful for because I can already tell a difference. I just hope its for the better and I dont start gaining again!

According to Lisa's records, I am down 52 pounds and have 6.75cc in my band as of today. Yeah me!

I went to church tonight for a covered dish supper and got stuck! Of all places for it to happen. Of course, it helps that there were four other banders there tonight and they told me what to do. Took awhile to get relief.

I got a fill today and Lisa tells me that it's not necessary to go back on liquids but after getting stuck & slimming for awhile, I'm on liquids until at least Saturday, no matter what. I hate that pain...

I am proud of myself and feel that I'm on the right track. I went to see my PCP yesterday and he was so proud of me. He was smiling from ear to ear. He's already talking about more surgeries to remove all the loose skin I'll have eventually. He admitted that when he suggested it, he didn't think I would go through with it and is so happy that I did. Already he is seeing improvement in my health. In fact, he took me off two of my meds. Hurray!

Hope to see somebody at group this Saturday.

Way to go Lolly. I have 6 ccs now and I'm having to learn how to eat without food getting stuck. I've been on a trip for a few days and have discovered that it is difficult at the airport to find anything to eat. bread gives me fits so I've pretty much given it up. Thank goodness for Peanut Butter and crackers. I've been in Philadelphia for a conference and walked my feet off. My docs should be happy with all the exercise I got. I'm thinking if I lived in a big city, I wouldn't have to worry about exercise...I'd get plenty but then again I like the quietness of the country.

Busdriver (Kristi) and I were at group today. We missed the rest of you of course. They had a plastic surgeon that does body sculpturing as the guest speaker. Dr. Al Cohn. Very nice man and very informative. The before/after pictures were really revealing.

Next month they are having a clothes sale in the hallway if you have any clothes for sale.

Veronica has decided NOT to have the fair that she talked about last month. Only four people emailed her to offer help, so she isn't having it for now.

The room was really full today with people that came to the seminar. Post-op people were only about a 1/3 of the room and the rest were all pre-ops. I love hearing everyone's story of their journey.

Well, it's bedtime....church tomorrow. Take care everyone.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
