I am so mad/sad

I cant believe I cheated so bad tonight for dinner. My surgery is Monday. I have lost 9 lbs during this pre-op period. I will do liquids on Saturday and Sunday. How could I be so stupid??? Has this happened to anyone else?

It happens to almost everyone, so don't kick your self too much. Just stop cheating and get pack on plan!

I've done it too. If we were really good at sticking to diets, we would not be here. Don't be hard on yourself. Just pick up the pieces and be really diligent about what goes in your mouth today and tomorrow.

Hugs!

My surgery is also on Monday ....I cheated on Wed. I broke down and ate things I shouldn't have. It wasn't much...but I couldn't help it. I think as long as you "do good" this weekend, that is o.k. I am so temped to eat... I've lost about 12 lbs on my pre-op liquid diet. Monday will be here before we know it. I go in for 7:15 am!!!

sammey1 You are not alone, I had my surgery on 12/31 and did my

pre-op diet during Christmas holiday and that was so hard! My surgeon said I could have one meal on Christmas Day, but then back to liquids until surgery. I lost 16 pounds, but my liver was still fatty. I was so upset because I worked so hard on shrinking it. So hang in there it will be ok. Best wishes with your upcoming surgery.

I was banded on 3/12 and I've eaten regular foods already. So don't worry your not alone. I didn't vomit didn't have a problem. I'm back on liquids and creamed Soups and yogurt. I have lost some but not as much as I am sure I would if I was restricted. Remember we're not rstricted yet so not much has changed...we're healing. Some docs are more crazy about the diets at the beginning than others. We have our minds to change...you're fine...we'll all do it...it a process

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
