OK so I was doing a little cheating and snacking on some pita chips because I miss bread so much, when I suddenly got a very weird feeling. My band was telling me to stop but I took one more bite and felt PAIN! Then like an idiot I drank some Water to try to flush it on down...., big mistake. For the next 15 or 20 min. I slimed and spit and brought up the water a teaspoonful at a time. I never brought up any of the pita chips, just water. I think maybe the water caused the pita to expand or something.:confused_smile:I think I won't eat any more of those for a loooong time!

Well at least now you know what the golf ball & pding is

Have you tried toast - I eat weight watcher lite bread (40 cal a slice) I put a little Peanut Butter or butter on it..

I follow a weight watcher eating plan - I have to have my starches - I don't have them for every meal - but I will have some - 1/2 c rice for dinner or tatos or Pasta - but I seem to be one of the lucky ones - i have restriction but can eat just about anything as long as I eat slowly - chew...

Yep no water afterwards - it just makes it worse - i did the same thing - now i know just to pb it up ...

You will now know to stop before that one more bit - it's hard and sometimes you will still take that one more bite - but after awhile - you will learn to stop...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
