Hello! I'm on the final count down. I am due at the hospital tomorrow (March 18th) at 5:30 am. My doctor is Dr Oh and I will be having my surgery at St. Frances Hospital in Federal Way, WA. I am so excited! I could hardly sleep last night. I don't imagine I'll get any sleep tonight either. Seems strange that I am thrilled about going under the knife but this is something that I have waited for for 12 years. I have such a peace about it and know that this is the start of a new me! :mad2:

Congratulations! I am very excited for you. I too am also going with Dr. Oh, but my surgery is tentatively set for mid-April. I think I will be feeling the same way that you are, so no surprise there! How long have you been counting down (i.e. when was your initial consult until now)?!? I'm having trouble getting Dr. Oh's office to get all my paperwork together to have them submit to insurance, but hopefully that will be done this week!!

Good Luck, keep us posted!!

I am so excited for you and Mimi both!! I am just starting my journey. I go to my seminar to begin the process this Friday the 21st. The night after I talked to the insurance (and found out it was covered) I was like a kid on Christmas Eve. I wish you both the best - take care!! Joy

I have Group Health insurance, so they wouldn't cover the surgery. Being that I am private pay things went very quickly. I had my first visit with Dr. Oh 02/08/08. I didn't have any hoops to jump through for my insurance, just all the pre-op testing for Dr Oh and the hospital. It wasn't too bad. Good luck. It'll be your time before you know it!

Hi,

I was banded on 3/19 and I am wondering how you are feeling?

I am still very sore and have lots of gas and a major case of the the runs.I am wondering if this is normal?

Hello everyone, i am not new to this forum, but this is my first time posting. I was also banded on the 18th of March. Everything went suprisingly well for me, just a little dehydration. I already have my first fill scheduled for May 6th. This was the best decision i ever made.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
