Recommended Posts

Hello everyone i'm new to this posting thing, but excited to be here. I received my approval letter yesterday and scheduled my surgery date today.I am to be banded on april 28th. I had hoped for something sooner, but i have waited this long so six more weeks will fly by. I have been browsing this forum for a couple of months now and am very encouraged by all of your successes. I hope to be sharing my own in the near future. For now i will continue my Quest to defeat the "DONUT KING" and his army of cheeseburgers, but soon with a new weapon on my side.

Thanks and congatulations on your losses.

Bigdaddy:

Congratulations. Don't worry about that tummy of yours. You men take it off so quickly that you make us women jealous. I think of my band as my belly cop. There's been a few times that my belly cop stepped in and stopped the traffic to send the food that shouldn't enter back out. I love my belly cop, because I was 324 pounds without it.

Good luck. Remember, any weight you can take off prior to banding makes the surgery safer and recovery easier.

Got my approval last Friday. I could have had the lapband surgery next Tuesday but couldn't get the pre-op done this week, so I am sheduled for the 22nd. I guess that is good since it gives me some more time to do the pre-op diet.

I will be doing some Protein shakes from the doctor's office, nothing fancy like Optifast and they don't taste too bad, but boy do I get hungry in the afternoon.

Bigdaddy...congratulations ! I can tell you a DONUT is one thing I definitely can't eat with the band.... doesn't go down well. But they sure do smell good!

I hope i lose the donut lust, but i am sure they will always have a warm place in my heart, just not in my belly!:blushing:

It's great hearing all of the experiences you guys have had, but i'm sure there will be some lessons that i will have to learn the hard way. Less than one week til those lessons begin.

Thanks to everyone for your replies.

Eat what you think you will miss after the band, because what you eat will never be the same. I find myself missing a few things here and there. Every once in a while I wish I could eat a cheesebuger but that feeling goes away. The band and everything you have to give up is soooo worth it. The hardest thing I have found to give up is drinking while you eat. Well Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
