Just got banded on 3/3/08

Recommended Posts

I just got banded on 3/3 and am doing pretty well. I only took 1 week off work. I am a health care provider, so it is fairly hard to cancel my days. The only difficuly I am relly having is that i am getting bored with the liquids!!

I am looking forward to my Journey ahead. I have about 75 lbs to loose but have severe HTN that is uncontroled with meds. I used this as a tool along with a new exercise program to hopefully get my life and BP under control!!

congratulations on your banding. I am scheduled for 3/26 and I am hoping I will be back to work within a week. What problem did you have after the procedure and how did you handle them? Was the gas pain bad? You can do it (stick with the liquids) I think it will get old real fast too but this is something we knew was going to happen sooner or later jut be positive and stick with it. You will be past that stage before you know it

I think i was disalussioned...i had my gallbladder taken out a few months ago by the same surgeon and he told me basically it would be very similar. I never took one pain pill for that! this was a little bit worse. The gas was pretty bad for the first 3 nights. My dr. kept me in over night. He keeps all his laps in over night for control of pain and n/v. I have had no nausea or vomiting....jsut some belly pain. Feels like i have done a million sit ups (well, like i know what that feels like). I am down 7 lbs and it has been one week yesterday. But again....I am hungry every 3-4 hours and tired of the liquids but...i know it wont be forever!!!

Good luck with your surgery!

Good luck with your surgery!

I was banded on March 3rd as well and today is the first day that I actually feel "great"! I had my gall bladder removed last summer and I don't remember hurting quite as much. I really loved my Lortab. I think I'm down to one last dose.

My hunger really kicked in yesterday, so I was just ornery. Today, I don't feel quite as cranky. I'm sure it will get easier as the days go on but I am right there with you - full liquids is tough. I don't know about your surgeon but mine has me on full liquids for 5 weeks. It's going to be rough!

Full liquids for 4 and then the first fill....I was banded in Kentucky....

I see you have lost 9 lbs?? That is great!! I try to stay off the scale, but you know...I work in a medical office as well so it is really hard to not step on it daily. I feel like since i am not eating ANYTHING.....I should be dropping more! I know....I know.....

I am glad to hear you are doing well and about in the same place i am. So, have you started the cardio activities yet??? They told me I should be on my treadmill by now

Not sure how i feel about that one...guess i better get on that!!

Well, we have something in common.I too was banded on the 3 of March and like you I have 75 lbs. loose. i FEEL better every day but looking forward to something to consume with substance. I was wondering if you had to be on a liquid diet two wks. before your surgery? I was not told to do that, except two days prior to surgery to fast.

Contragulations!!! I was banded on March 7th. Like you I am in the healthcare field which is very demanding. Luckly my job requires some sitting, therefore, I was able to go back to work within 4 days. I know what you mean about the liquids. This has been very hard for me. Luckly this stage is almost over. I have no real problems other than weakness from the sx. Good luck and I wish you well on your new journey.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
