Warning: Keep an eye on your rings

Recommended Posts

I'm about a month out and down 30 pounds. I was aware that my wedding ring had become looser, but didn't think it was too loose that I needed to stop wearing it. The other morning I woke up only to find that it was no longer on my hand. We took the bed apart, searched high and low and finally dh found it. It was in the baby's carseat, out in the car. I guess when I had put him in the night before the ring had slipped off. I was so relieved. I thought we'd never find it. Anyway, my advice is if you think your rings are getting too loose, don't wait to put them somewhere safe, other than your shrinking fingers.

My husband had his fall off about 10 times, and we were always going on a mad search throughout the house, the car, the yard . . .

He finally got one of those little bridge thingies to tighten it up. Maybe I'll get him a new one when he gets close to his goal.

DH had to have his resized a couple of months ago. He got out of the car and it rolled down the street. We found it and went to the jeweler the next day. His is a plain gold band so it could be done without looking badly. Mine is the same, but I really don't expect to lose weight in my fingers. My fingers are always bony.

I am the same way. When I had lost just 20 lbs. my rings got really loose. I had to go to Walmart and in their jewlery section are these ring snugglers. They hold my rings in place so that I can wear them. Once I get to goal then I will have them resized.

So glad you found your ring! I almost lost mine too. I work part time as a nurse and the other night at work I washed my hands, dried them off with a paper towel and tossed the towel in the trash. I dont know why I looked down in the trash, but when I did, there was my wedding ring laying inside the paper towel! I'm heading out to find one of those "snugglers" today!

Mine would fall off all the time. Its 5 carats so finally I took it off for a while. I found a great jeweler in town that sized it right in front of my eyes for $25. I was down 1.5 sizes.

Mine have gone from a size 10, to currently being a 7.5, I have removed, them and wear a simple band...which is now getting way too big as well. The design of my ring is going to make sizing a challenge, and will only be able to be done once without ruining the design--so I am waiting until I am at a size I am comfortable with for a few months to get it done.

I opened the jewelry box last night looking for a right hand ring to wear to a dinner party, and almost cried looking at my beautiful rings!!! But I keep thinking how nice they will look on long thin fingers as opposed to how they looked on the sausages I used to call fingers. Unfortunately....my hands show my age much more than they used to----anyone else notice this????

I already see my mother's hands when I look down, so I'm afraid to know what will happen once I lose the weight!!!

Kat:

I had "sausage" fingers too. Funny how when the sausages empty out you get lines on your fingers and hands! Lines, not wrinkles .Oh well, still an improvement overall.

Keep up the good work.

Sue when my DD was little she was drawing a picture of my Grandma---her great grandma---and she kept telling me she didn't knowhow to draw her stripes! She meant her wrinkles. So now I have stripes on my face and lines on my hands!!!!

Love it!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
