You can feel the port, under your skin. In fact, that's how your fill doctor or fill person may find it--by touch.

I can't feel the band itself, either internally or by touch. It's tucked up under the ribs, I think.

I haven't had the surgery yet still going through the prelims. I did "feel" one when I went to a meeting with pre and post op patients. It felt like something under the skin but not bad. The person said it doesn't hurt and you really can't feel it. So I guess it depends on everyone different. The more weight you loose the more it can be felt from the outside. Hope that helps.

Hi Yurmy,

Just wondering how long it was before you were able to get back to work? I am getting my surgery March 20th. Started my two weeks of liquid diet, I'm into the third day.....not so bad. I'm a bit worried about pain and so on.....after. I have to be back at work after two week. Thanks for any information you can share.

Lorna

I can feel my port. I have to push on it to fell it with my fingers. Also, when I am doing a lot of sit-ups or abdominal exercises, I can feel that it's there. Not bothersome at all, just aware of it. I can't feel the band at all.

For the first week after being banded it's like I could feel something in there... it was NOT painful, but it kind of reminded me of like when you are nervous to speak in front of a crowd.. when you get that knot in your tummy.. like butterflies.. it kind of felt like that. And it sort of went through to my back.. again, not painful, just odd... after a week that all went away and now I just feel back to normal again. I don't feel anything inside of my belly and the port just feels like a little knot in your belly, but doesn't hurt. the other day at the store, the shopping cart handle litterally comes right to my port and i was playing with the cart and the handle like bounced off my port.. it was like a little shield in there. it was quite funny.. it sort of startled me and my husband laughed..

I'm 18 months after surgery and I can feel my port just below the muscle on my left side and can only feel the band when something is stuck.

I can feel both, I'm 9 months out. I've always been able to feel my band internally. I think I'm just weird. My band has been tighter than most from the beginning too. It feels like a slight pressure just beneath my sternum. It's nothing annoying, but it's there if I pay attention. My port is always present, but it's getting better.

I had my surgery 6 days ago and to be honest I have no clue where my Dr. put the disc at. I forgot to ask him after the surgery because I was so doped up LOL. I can't feel the band either. Then again my Dr. didn't do any adjustment when he put the band on. He waits until the first adjustment.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
