Less than 50 and counting down

Recommended Posts

Its getting closer. I have a little less than 50 to go to make my goal. I cant wait.:smile2::smile2:

Seems like the weight is slowing down a little, so I need to mix up my meals and exercise some to kickstart it again.

Holy cow! That is amazing. I am down to less than 20 pounds to go. I get my fill on Monday and I am hoping that it does the same thing for my weight loss as the last one did. This time I am going to be mentally prepared to be on Soups for 3 weeks though. The last time I got a fill I was so tight and ended up getting slightly unfilled, but now I am back to being able to eat a horse! I hope horse is low-fat!

Wow, glad to see so many others close to thier goals. Now the big question is......... What will you do when you reach your goal?

As for me, our local bariartic group has a cruise later in the year for patients of Dr. Jessee, so that will be my reward to myself. I cant wait...:thumbup:

Come to think of it, I'm getting there - my initial goal of 180 is 32 lbs away, but in the long run, I'm shooting for a bit more (ideally I want to hit 160, a total of 126 lbs lost). That final number will really be about getting to a place where I feel comfortable in my skin, even if I'm still a little heavier than "normal" (and a little baggier, probably).

They say it takes about 2 years total to really settle into your final weight, so I'm going to enjoy the ride and see where it winds up. I'm already much happier with things than I was this time last year!!

Oh - and what will I do when I get there?

- act like a big geek for a good half hour or so (right after that weigh-in)

- ponder whether I want to go for plastic surgery (I'm hoping I won't need it)

- Figure out a great new tattoo - I kind of want to get my surgical scars tattooed with a pretty vine design or something.

- Pierce my navel

- shop for TONS of gorgeous normal clothes!

- get scuba-certified (i'm waiting till I won't need a ton of dive weights to stay under)

- get a really gorgeous sparkly Bedlah (belly dance bra and belt set)

Wow, those are some great plans. Makes mine seem lame in comparison...

How exciting that so many of us are getting close to goal. Ya'll have some great rewards planned and you deserve them all.

My first PS consult is next week, so that is going to be my big reward. I don't know what they will recommend about how long I need to wait, but I hope its possible this summer. I have no hope of "things" returning to an acceptable level for me. Besides a lifetime of yo-yo dieting and now this weight loss, I've had two kids, (both breast fed) and I'm 50. Tummy Tuck and breast lift here I come!

Are you excited or nervous about the consult? Congrats on getting the ball rolling!

I plan to have the same. (the jury is still out on my inner thighs)

I have a ps consult on 3/31 and the idea is making me as nervous as the LB surgery. What are you thinking about getting?

I'm nervous about the PS consult but also excited. I dread having to be "inspected", but am anxious to find out what will be possible. My highest priority is the tummy and breasts. Arms and inner thighs would be nice too, but I probably won't go that far. I've learned quite a bit from lurking around on the PS threads and I'm sure arms and thighs would require a second surgery. If I could get everything done safely with one operation I'd probably go for it all.

I'll let you all know what I find out next week. I'm not going to be posting about this outside the Crazy Ates threads. I feel comfortable with this intimate little group and you've all been so encouaging and supportive. Maybe I'll start a PS thread just for us August folks. It sounds like several of us are starting to consider the possibilities. So scary and so exciting!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
