Slow progress

Recommended Posts

Kristi, you've lost 26 pounds in a little over a month! That is excellent! Did you understand that the average weight loss is 1 to 1 1/2 pounds a week. You are way ahead of the norm. This method is not meant to drop weight quickly. But to take weight off slowly and steadily, giving our bodies and our minds time to adjust. Please go pick up something that weighs 26 pounds (large sack of cat food) and see how long you can carry it around. That's how much less your body is having to lug around. You're doing excellent, but slow down and enjoy this time. It will just keep getting better and better.

Kristi, wait a minute - Youve lost 26 pounds in 6 weeks!!!!! Girl, thats NOT slow. It took me about 4 months to lose 25 pounds.

You are doing great... probably better then most of us here did at our 6 week point.

Keep in mind that we didnt put on this weight overnight, and its not coming off overnight!

Good luck and hang in there - youre doing awesome!

Kristi, sometime it helps to put weight loss in perspective. When you gained weight it was not all at once (most likely), and when you loose it it will most likely not be all at once either. At the rate of weight loss you are at you will loose 225.3 pounds in a year--probably more weight then you have to loose to be healthy. So just take solice in the fact that weight loss takes time and the old adage - a watched kettle never boils- is so true in weight loss as well. Also be prepared because your weight loss will also slow some in the future and this is normal. Changes to our bodies take time, and often the changes that take the longest are the best ones we enjoy.

Those are just some points I learned thru my own weightloss research--and things I have to tell myself as well.

Kristi you are doing great. You do not want to lose it extremly fast, you want to let your body adjust. I think I hit the famous platue now but thats ok because I wear smaller clothes compared to where I was. My knees are not killing me and my Asthma is much better.

Are your clothes getting bagger? You might be losing inches right now rather than Pounds.

You call that slow, you will be upset if things do slow down. Most of us only average 1-2 lbs a week if we're lucky. You go girl!

I was banded on the same day as you and lost 25 lbs the first four month. I have since gained 2 lbs!! My first fill is on the 24th of this month and I cannot wait to see the pounds drop again.

26 lbs in a month is alot of weight and your body has to catch up!! Have you had a fill yet?

Be patient (but I knw how you feel) it will happen.

Lauren

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
