I lost so much fat there that they remind me of that kid's song, "Do your ears hang low?"

ROFLOL! You and me both girl! I'm thinking I could toss each of em over my shoulders!! Eww! Not a pretty visual! Sorry.

We're also trying a new boot camp class Saturday. I heard that this can kick your tail but also really rev up weight loss...I'm willing to try anything at this point to get the scales moving again.

I did a class like this years ago and it was a booty kicker for sure. I wish I could do it again though. Good luck!!

Well, tomorrow is the BIG DAY...REFILL!!!!!!!! I am so excited, I can't wait. You'd think it was Christmas. I am actually more excited than I was first having the surgery. Restriction, here I come

Congrats!! I know you are so ready, I'm so happy for you!

Hi everyone

Carol - tell her to come on in! She is more than welcome

Mom - ROFL - me too girl from a 44DDDD to a 38D (and still losing)...though I'm kind of glad - my frame looks smaller now and I no longer have Beamers (a.k.a. homing devices that attract men's eyes). Not that I minded, but it is nice to have someone look you in the eye now and again. You may like Zumba - we had one instructor that taught a couple of weeks ago that I didn't like very much (she now teaches at another Y). The one we have now is awesome. Oh - even with the fancy gel seat - your ass will still hurt - trust me! :-) Good luck with that! LOL

What is Boot Camp? We don't have that and I think I might like it!

Just got back from Spinning class and LOVED IT! It was hard, not too bad on the bottom. Guess I was used to it from using the excercise bike. Only issue I had was the stand cycling, only could do it for a few seconds at a time but then the teacher explained how to do it after class so I hope to be able to do it all next week. Atleast I kept up.

L2L - girl, the guys will still look at any D so don't think that will stop! I actually think they'll look at any size:) Anyway - boot camp is just what it sounds like. It is based on Boot Camp training with lots of high intensity work outs. There is lots of running, climbing, jumping, etc... I almost had myself talked out of it, I still can't run much. But a fellow gym rat talked me back into it. So, I'm gonna give it a try and I'll let you know how it goes....

2 hrs and counting to the refill....YEAH!

I've been postponing this (I already posted this on the C25K thread - the only other one I post consistantly), but I really need some help this week ya'll. I'm having a tough time this week emotionally. I am a rollercoaster - happy one minute, sad the next. I did make a doctor's appointment for tomorrow to check my hormone and thyroid levels. I don't know what is wrong with me.

I'm usually a pretty even keeled person. I do have a bit of a temper - but I'm always able to control it. Not this week. I'm a shrew! I cussed at my youngest and proceeded to knock everything off the kitchen table - for no reason. I went to my bedroon and cried. I can't believe I lost it like that. I don't know where to turn except to you guys. Is it the weight loss/chemical embalance/hormones? Are any of you going through this too? I really hope you are not. I guess I need a shoulder and support. I feel like I'm losing control of myself.

I get up in the mornings (sleeping in - again - like I did preband) and come to work. I do fine with my eating and plan on exercising - by 5:00 the drive is gone and I don't go. I really don't care by then. Then at home I'll cook dinner and not eat it. I snack on junk (you can see by our journal). I think I'm emotionally turning to food at night...since I can't binge I just graze.

Well - I"m off to cry in my milk (can't/don't drink beer). Thanks for listening!

It's an emotional coaster for sure. Since being banded I feel way more emotional too.

Not to be nosey but do you take any depression or anxiety meds? If not they might consider having you try them to see if it evens you back out. I have been thinking about asking the dog about some anxiety medicine since certain situations now almost send me into a panic... once I am there then I lose my temper.

L2L- Lots of {{{{Hugs}}}} to you!

I think that with any weight loss/diet issue women go through major emmotional issues. You said yourself that you used food as a coping method and not being able to turn to that comfort, makes us defeated and even more angry. Where do you turn when you can't do what has always worked in the past? You don't, you just feel defeated. I know I may not be helping right now but am totally understanding because I'm with you! I do take a anti-depressant and it does help but when TOM comes around, watch out!

Just know that we are always here for you! We do understand. I hate having things going on that people around me don't just don't!

I have to whine some too - I had my fill today. He was going to add 5ccs but that was too tight so instead he only added 4. I watched the monitor and knew it wasn't enough. The barium went right though. I begged for another .5 but no luck. Dr said to give it a week or two and I might have to come back for more (duh) in a month. I tried to think on the good side but by the time I got home, was in complete defeat mode. Yelled at the kids when I walked in and went for the food. Started with yogurt and granola, trying to be good. Then proceeded to eat 12 lo-fat ritz with 3 slices of cheese and one triangle of laughing cow, then 4 Hershey's toffee & almond nuggets and then a whole, bun included, sloppy joe! And it's not even dinner yet! Hoping to kick start my band's tightness so maybe tomorrow will be better but right now, I don't see it!

Have you every had a fill that got tighter a day or two after being done? I need some good news....

Yes, so much so that I had to go in and have some taken out. I ate dinner the same night as my fill with no probs. It didn't kick in until about 36 hours later. It was so bad, I couldn't even swallow my own spit. I aspirated saliva and mucous all night long. It was not good. So, be careful.

Thanks Bea! Dr swears that this will probably happen to me but it never has before so I needed to know that there was the possibility. I just hope I don't go to extremes....sorry to hear that is what happened to you. How are things going with you lately? Are the scales moving?

Mom - my doctor puts me on liquids/mushies after a fill. There can sometimes be extra swelling and don't want me to get ill. I haven't eaten right after a fill - so I'm not sure on that one. ((hugs)) to you too!

Hi All,

My name is Lori, I am Turler's friend from Colorado. I love your thread, you all are a very supportive and very realistic. I had my surgery on 9/9/08, and had my first fill this last Tuesday. He put in 4.6 ml, and boy can I tell the difference. I am thrilled that I am down 32 lbs. since the pre-op diet . I can not thank Turler enough for getting me off my butt to make such a postive change in my life. I agree about the hormones, I am having a TOM that is from hell, no one ever mentions the dangers of losing weight and the hormones trying to figure out what is going on! Have a great night! I look forward to talking to you all soon!

Lori

Welcome aboard Lori!! We are glad you are here!

Mom - No the damn scale hasn't budged at all in, well I can't even remember when. My phys ed instructor is supposed to get back to me tomorrow. She's been looking over my meal logs. I'm a little nervous about that because A.) I could be eating a lot cleaner B.) I'm afraid she'll just say "well, duh! Stop eating that crap and you'll start loosing again" C.) It's intimidating for a little tiny, skinny girl to be looking at what I am eating. I hope in the long run it will help not just me, but everyone here as I will share what she says. So, there you go guys, I'm taking one for the team!! Consider me your wingman!! LOL!

I've been "throwing" up a lot today. I don't know if it's because I'm really stressed right now and uptight or because I ran 5 miles yesterday. I'm so sick of not loosing, I know I'm pushing myself, but honestly I love it!! I did not love, however, not being able to eat today. Don't know what is up with that. I've been at a really good restriction level for a while now, so I know I'm not too tight. Full moon? :)

Hope you all are having a great night! I've got a super busy weekend, so if I don't check in for a couple of days, have a good one!!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
