Angelic you can just get right back on that horse! I know its hard but, you can do it. Just think of the goal. I'm know we will all stick with you and talk you through rough times. The pre-op thing is hard....I hate the headaches I'm getting. Drives me crazy. Not sure if its from not being able to eat or maybe no caffine? All I know there is a light at the end of that tunnel we are all trying to find our way out of! hang in there! You'll do fine! :blushing:

Thanks feelgoodagain.

Surgery is 2 days, huh? Good luck, and I am sure it will go great!

Let us know asap how it went. I'll be sending prayers and good thoughts...

Angelic 1: don't sweat it!! I am not even required to do a pre-op diet. As long as you are eating sensibly and trying to stay away from fatty foods, you'll be fine. After you have the band, you will have to make many sacrifices that are permanent.......

My day is almost here!!! :blushing:

Can't wait!!!!!

I'm scheduled for Friday, May 2nd in Houston. I'm nervously excited - not about the surgery itself, but the possiblity of failure. I work with 3 people who have been banded - two unsuccessful and one very successful. I'm going to stick close to the successful one!!! :smile2:

tootscritter--good luck on Friday! hope it is smooth sailing all the way!

Curious--what did the 2 people you work with do to make it unsuccessful for them?

They say they just enjoyed food too much. I ate lunch with one the other day and he ordered three fajita tacos. It took over an hour for him to eat them - had to wait for them to "go down". I'm hoping I can encourage him to get back on track. They both were so excited and had good success at first. We'll see....

There are ways to "get around" the band!! Same with Gastric bypass!! It is a tool that needs to be used in conjunction with good sense and healthy eating habits....

I am being banded tomorrow. I can't wait to start this new chapter of my life!!!

Ok, I got my FINAL date! I'm going to be banded May 20th! A good solid even numer!

I'm not that scared about actually getting the surgery anymore, now I'm scared that its not going to work. That I just won't lose weight! Arughh, do others feel this way too? They are scared the band won't work for them? That they enjoy eating too much? Am I alone? :huh2:

Hello all. My surgery date is 5/12! WOOHOO Can't wait. Been reading everyones post~ nice to meet you all. I'm starting to worry I still won't be able to lose weight after I get the band. I know it's crazy! I don't know; I guess the closer the surgery gets, the more crazy ideas pop into my head. My surgery is on Monday and I start back to school the following Monday. Just worried I'll be in a lot of pain. I'm in nursing school and will be doing clinicals at the hospital. WoRrIeD!!! So I'm sure things will be fine. Just still fraking out a little bit.

I am so excited for everyone, I literally have butterflies and all sorts of tingleys in my stomach for you May firsters!!!!!

Marine I know what you mean! I love eating!!! It's a hobby of mine, well, obviously, lol. I know there are so many success stories out there, but there are also a lot of not so successful stories. I feel that this is really going to motivate me to do some good, healthy things for myself, I'll finally start going to the gym that I've been paying $20 a month for and hardly EVER go! I won't feel obligated to stuff my face when I go out to eat (well because I won't be able to but still...) I won't have this mentality of "why watch what I eat, I'm already fat, whats another couple pounds..." I am so nervous about what my dumb, judgemental friends are going to say, and how they are most likely all going to try to convince me to not do this, but I know this is the right thing to do and I couldn't be more excited!!

Good luck bandfan1, feelgoodagain, awomangodcanuse, and everyone else being banded tomorrow!!!!!

I am totally scared that it is not going to work. I do love food, and it is so easy and convenient. Plus, my husband and kids love to eat so it will be challenging. Also, I am more nervous with the more people who know because now I feel like they will be looking and watching for the weight loss. We will just have come to this board very often...

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
