It's Ok...I'm with the band. =) 2/25/08

Hey guys, I survived! =) I was banded on Monday and cannot believe how easy everything has been! Thank you LORD!!!!!!!!

Of course I'm sore, around the port area especially, and I'm having some gas and burping issues but hey...I'm doing great! I'm so grateful that I didn't have any complications considering the fact that I did not follow the pre-op diet. :smile2: God was very merciful to me.

I had to spend the night even though things went great because my surgeon changed his policy a month ago. Now everyone has to stay one night. The hospital I went to was AMAZING, from the first valet parking attendant to the last and every orderly, nurse, and doctor in-between, I had a top-notch experience. I'm so grateful!!!!

I did have one pretty severe gagging/dry heaving incident this morning around 4am but when it passed I ate some banana baby food and felt better. I think it just happened because I was hungry and didn't realize it. I did call my surgeon's office and ask for a prescription for some anti-nausea meds though, just in case it happens again. I'll pick it up tomorrow but hopefully I won't need it!

I'm off to read more posts now and I sure hope everyone else is doing as well as I am! :tongue2:

Hi Gibson,

So glad to hear your surgery went without a hitch! Hope you have no more nausea though. No shoulder pain for you? I had the dreaded shoulder pain but the hot pad always kept it away. sometime when I took it off it would start right away again. It's been 2 days with none don't know if that means it's gone or just on a mini vacation. lol, hope you don't get that too. :blushing:

Good luck, and welcome to the banded side.

No, I haven't had any shoulder pain. My pain yesterday, (third day) seemed like it was the worst of all. Probably because the port site is getting sorer and I've been backing off the pain meds. It's just a feeling in my stomach of a. having done a hundred crunches and b. having eaten a gigantic Thanksgiving feast. That's the extent of my pain so far.

Yeah! You did it!!!

Welcome to the banded life. It's great here isn't it.

You will feel top notch in a few days, trust me. Just rest now and try to drink as much as you can, you do not want a dehydration headache, they never go away!!!

Welcome to Bandland Gibson! I'm so happy everything went so smoothly for you :) It sounds like you had a really great experience and some awesome care, congratz to you! Praise the Lord for His blessings to you. I had similar issues with nausea, and my surgeon prescribed some compazine (anti-nausea drug) for me. It helped a lot, although it really made me sleepy . . . which is not too bad a thing after surgery

Congratz again, I'm so happy for you! Sounds like you're doing great. I'll keep you in my prayers for continued smooth recovery!

Hello all,

Just let everyone know I recieved my band on the 26th!!

I arrived at the hospital at 8am and went in to the OR at 10:15am and was in recovery at 11:30am. I am doing fine I think alot of the reason is my doctor gives anti nausea meds and antibiotics routinely. I stayed overnite .This is the doctor's policy.

I really haven't had much pain except while in the recovery room. I'm taking 2 doses of med per day.I'm really not that sore except for the port site,

I have no appetite. Is this normal? I am supposed to have 2oz of liquid per hour.

I'm finding it very difficult to do that.

God has been good to me!!

Thank all of you for your support.

Congrats to both of you. Each day it gets easier and easier.

I was banded 2/15 and had my first post op follow up today. I have been officially moved off all liquids and can begin with soft foods. My first meal was DELICIOUS!!! Only problem (not) was that I was only able to eat one piece of the fist, about 2 oz, and 3 or 4 bites of Tomato. Maybe I'm still a little scared that I'll over eat and cause problems. Anyway, I have the wonderful people on this board who will help me through all the rough spots. I don't know you guys, but I love ya.:rolleyes2:

Congratulations Jaunderwood!

take it easy because you may not feel to much pain because of the pain meds. lol, I took those for 4 days and then didn't need them at all. I'm still not hungry and it's day 7 or 8. appreciate it now and sip on that Water. :rolleyes2:

You are going to love it!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
