Twenties NSVs

Recommended Posts

Ok so I wanted to revive this thread!

I had a major NSV last night.

Here is a little background at my heaviest I was about 345 so as you can imagine not many guys would flirt or look at me at the bars.

Well now I am down about 57 lbs, with alot to go! But I went to a country bar last night. And this really HHOOTT guy was hanging out with my group. Well we talked all night long and I was really flirting with him. And guess what?! He actually flirted back. Now I could get the ok guys to flirt or what not. But this guy was HHOOTT. And wasnt a bum! I was so proud of myself that I didnt act shy and was actually flirting with him. Now I will admit I did have a little bit of help from Alocohol but this was a big step for me. It was totally inspired me today!

last night i was not only able to wear a peacoat that hasnt fit for the last 2 years, but i was able to BUTTON it! granted there was only one button left on it due to me wearing it when i shouldnt have, but i buttoned that last button! and it looked CUTE! i was home in texas at my parents' house over winter break and tried on a bunch of old jeans, and while i can't wear them out in public yet (lots of the muffin top going on), i can atleast button those! i'll be wearing them in no time, hopefully.

I had one yesterday. I went and got a haircut and went to my friends to show her my new hair. She runs up to me and goes "OH MY GOD YOU HAVE A JAWBONE!!" I looked at some old pictures and she was right. I have a jawbone now

I had a good one tonight. This last summer (08) I had to order a bathing suit online because I could not find one in the store. It was a bit snug in the summer. I put it on tonight to go swimming at the gym and it was SOOOO big on my. I had to tie the straps together just so the top wouldn't fall down. It felt great to know that this year I will be buying a suit in the store. Glad to hear there are so many others out there who are experiencing these wonderful moments.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I had another one today. A coworker of mine who has been on vacation since just after I got the band came back to work today. The first thing he said when he saw me was "Drew, are you shrinking?"

Made me smile and made my entire freakin' day!

Ok wow I have quite a few NSV's...

  • Stomach no longer touches steering wheel.
  • I've gone from a tight 22 to a very loose 18.
  • My legs don't look like stumps they look like LEGS!
  • BAD NSV: I've lost inches but no cup size so I've gone from a 40DDD to a 38F.
  • My ankles exist!
  • Rings fall off, necklaces fit better, bracelets don't cut off circulation.
  • Sex has gotten waaaaaay better.
  • I can wear a belt!
  • Guys are flirting with me and staring at me. I instinctively am thinking "Oh no do I have something on my face?" cuz I'm just not used to it.
  • I can shop at normal stores again. Still in XXL or XL shirts but come on...I have 38F's lol Even at my smallest I was wearing XL's.
  • I have officially lost 50lbs. (Not a NSV but still a victory)
  • I actually am having choices in what I want to wear, instead of just taking ANYTHING that'll fit.
  • Used to wear 2XL guys shirts, put one on about 2 months ago so I could wear it to school and I was SWIMMING in it.
  • I bought guys 2XL swim trunks at Old Navy when I was at my heaviest. So a few weeks ago I had to go hottubbing and needed some cover up shorts. I grabbed them and I couldn't get them to stay up and they went down to my ankles:mellow:. They weren't an option lol.
  • People in my classes are talking to me. Sad but when I was at 265(at 5'4") they would ignore me. Not even look at me. Depressing when people can't stand the sight of you...how's that for you self-confidence lol...
  • I can somewhat see my va-jay-jay!
  • In the bathtub when I sit down I slide around a lot more lol...my thighs used to touch both sides and kept me in place lol
  • sleeping hurts because my bones stick out more and I can feel the mattress springs :)
  • I can run up stairs without losing my breathe.

And amazingly I haven't exercised or really dieted at all yet. (bad I know but i've still lost and kept off 50lbs in 6 months all by just eating smaller amounts which is a lesson I needed to learn.)

I can't wait to experience all the things you guys have.

So far my NSVs are:

-I have a collar bone!

-Clothes that were tight are fitting now.

-I have to wear belts more often with my pants.

-My boyfriend says that I feel smaller when he hugs me.

-Sex is easier.

-I don't have much trouble anymore putting on my socks and shoes... but I don't know if that has as much to do with my weight as it does my bad back getting better from physical therapy. o.o

-I can do the beginning step class at the gym. Never in a million years did I think I could have done that!

I think there may be a few more, but I can't think of them at the moment.

This is an awesome topic! All this stuff I forget about that is just as important if not more than just weighing less.

ok so I had two non-scale victories today!

1. I was walking out from a journalism class this morning when I walked past a friend in the newsroom. We hadn't had a class together since last year, so we haven't seen each other in 6 months, but we used to live in the same building so he saw me every day then. Well, I smiled and said hey when I walked past, and like 2 feet later he goes "JANE! i didn't even RECOGNIZE you!" and I just kind of stood there flustered and he goes "i mean, i dunno... maybe its the... peacoat? or... did you change your hair?" nope.... just a haircut that put me back to the length it was when he saw me last. so that made my morning.

2. so then, tonight, I was doing some shopping because i have to wear dress clothes for an upcoming trip and need to look professional, not the baggy-jeans look i've been sporting. after some unfortunate boot shopping when realizing that my calves will not yet fit in regular boots (when will boot manufacturers figure this out??), i went to lane bryant to see if they had anything. the sales lady goes "we have some underwear on sale..... and lucky for you we have a TON of the 14s in stock. i mean, i'm guessing thats what you are." well thank you very much! not quite yet, still in the 16s, but it was nice to have that saleslady think I was just barely fat enough to still have to shop there! sorry lane bryant, but i am sooo ready to stop shopping there!

anyways, tiny NSVs.... but they are few and far between right now so i'll take what i can get!

I had a NSV a couple days ago!

My mom, who is super skinny, has never been a "complimenter", lol. Never has really told me I was having a good hair day, or she's ever noticed when I've lost weight before, yada yada. But she's awesome anyway.

So, I went out of town for 2wks. She came over when I got back, and when she walked in she said "Well hey there SLIM!". And I just said hey and walked into the kitchen, she followed me and said again "how's it going slim?". I guess she wanted to make sure I heard her. She said she could really tell I had lost. I was fighting back the tears cuz my mommy called me slim! haha.

I loved it!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
