mypov -- I'm 30 weeks now, and I'm up almost 17lbs. Don't feel bad! I gained most of it in the 2nd tri, but things have really slowed down now. My restriction has come back and I don't have much of an appetite. I'm getting regular ultrasounds and baby is growing like gangbusters, so all is well. I'm sure I'll gain a few more in this last tri too.

I ended up gaining 8 pounds. I had hyperemesis causing me to loose significantly early on. I did have a complete unfill at 10 weeks, because of the morning sickness. My surgeon wouldn't even hear of a fill after the baby because I was breastfeeding, so needless to say I found some weight I had lost pre-baby. At 6 months postpartum when we were finished breastfeeding he started with fills again. I am starting to get back on track now.

I had my baby in May and gained 32lbs. Prior to pregnany I weighed 135lbs...Before the band I weighed 260lbs...I am now in the process of trying to lose the pregnancy weight.

I am 12 weeks pregnant, due 02/03/2009. I had surgey on 06/04/2007 and lost over 100 lbs. I have now gained back 25 already! They say you can't lose during pregnancy, but I can't be as large as a house again and my band is completely unfilled. What can I do? (PS. My gastric doctor's dietician doesn't return phone calls to post-op patients either, apparently!)

Expecting #1...Why is your band completely unfilled. I did not completely unfill. I actually unfilled slowly as I progressed into the pregnancy...I wanted to make sure I was eating enough and getting nutrients to the baby without overeating.

It was the doctor's desicion to completely unfill me. I don't know why, but they did it at 5 weeks. Now I am gaining uncontrollably. I haven't been eating the best foods, but I honestly don't think I've been eating poorly enough to gain THIS much!!

THAT IS SO INSPIRING!!!! GOOD JOB:thumbup:

I got pregnant 3 months post op and I gained 23 pounds. I too had gained 70+ pounds with my first baby. I lost every bit of my weight within a week. I had my baby on Tuesday and wore my favorite (pre-pregnancy) church outfit that Sunday. My family couldn't believe it they kept telling me "don't get your hopes up, well you have done good..I would not be disappointed if you're unable to fit into it". I was so extreamly happy. I wow'd them all. I love my band.

I have type 2 diabetes so I was extra careful about when and what I ate whilst pregnant and I lost 2 and a half stone (35lb) when I had my son last year (gained about 7lb last month and lost right after delivery). In the year since then I've put it all back on  and that has been one of the deciding factors in getting my band. Still 5 months til I can afford the op but I'd rather delay a second baby and have a healthier pregnancy than have a second soon and have to endure 8 months of insulin injections and the worry that everytime I fall off the wagon my baby is at risk.

But the point of my ramble - u can safely lost a lot of weight when pregnant without harming your baby, or yourself.

Wow, congrats on EVERYTHING. I was banded 2 yrs ago, only lost 80 lbs in 2 yrs and then had to be rebanded due to slippage. I had the new band in March/April of this year an have not lost a single freaking lb. I am now pregnant! I am so excited but so scared to gain weight. PLease keep me updated!!!

I have now gained 17 lbs since being pregnant and am 37 weeks and 5 days. They are going to induce the baby on Monday! Woohoo! I am anxious to see how much weight comes off. I was never completed filled to my "sweet spot." In fact, I had only had my very first fill before I got pregnant. My dr will do a fill a week after baby is born, unfortunately, I can't afford it right away. They don't bill my insurance and charge $300 each time. Too pricey for me right after a baby. Only $125 for a fill without X-ray. Anyhow, I am excited about not gaining so much and still having my band afterwards. I am just worried that I stretched out my pouch and get in trouble with the dr. when I do go in for a fill. Has anyone breastfed and still gone in for fills? Did it hinder your milk supply at all?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
