I am so glad I found this forum...It is such a great support...

I have been thinking about the Lap Band surgery for a very long time.

reading everything I could find on the subject.

Knowing all along this is what I want to have done.

So I attended the slide presentation Feb 14, 2008.

I am going to meet with my surgeon Feb 26.

Everything is moving along great...My paper work is in order.

I am hoping to have my surgery in March!!!!:tt2:

I will keep you updated as things move along.

Hi Jewels....I noticed in another post that you were going thru Dayton Bariatric....I am too! I was also surprised in reading on this one that you went to the slide presentation on 2/14 since I went to that also! I was originally shceduled for 2/12 and we had such awful weather it was postponed. I have an appt w/Dr Bruce 2/28 and hopefully after visiting a nutriitonist 2/29 all the footwork will be done. When I started researching lap band after the first of the year I found great info, but most of the before/after stories were by people that had RNY. A friend at work that was banded by Dr Bruce told me of this site and I am so very grateful! The more I read on this site, the more confident I am that this is the right choice for me.

Hello! This is my first time posting :biggrin2: I've been lingering around here for a long time. I love this site!! I was also at the 02/14/08 slide presentation at Grandview in Dayton. I'm being banded on 04/16 by Dr. Bruce. I have everything complete, just waiting for the day. I start my pre-op diet on Sunday, and believe it or not, I can't wait! I'm so ready to get this show on the road!!!

Hey BandedTam...I think I will be having my surgery the same week as you at DBC. My insurance approved on Weds. of this week and I should be hearing from the scheuling person today. Like you, I'm ready to get this show on the road....I just cannot stop thinking about this and how things will be months from now. There are so many things I used to love to do that I let my weight stop me from today. I feel like I've been blessed by having insurance and the opportunity to do this. I know it will add years to my life as well as life to my years and looking better is just an xtra benefit. I can't wait!

Congratulations on receiving your approval! I received mine back in March and it took almost 4 weeks before they could get my surgery scheduled because they were backed up. You might want to give them a call to set up the surgery yourself, that's what I did. It does move things along a little quicker. Have you already been to the support group at DBC? I feel the same as you, I'm sooo looking forward to feeling and looking better

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
