This Is Normal.....Right?

I got my first fill today, Yahoo. Banded 12/19/07. I haven't lost in the last two weeks and been eating too much. Didn't put any more weight on but sure wanted to lose.

I am excited to get jump started again,;) with the liquids for a couple of days and then soft foods for another couple of days. The the mushies are not so much Protein, but it's only a couple of days.

It felt very strange getting the fill. I am on insulin so I am used to the shots, that didn't bother me. But didn't know how I was supposed to feel. :ohmy:Hurt my chest having the liquid in there but I guess that is the air. I can't burp at will so it took a little while before that feeling was gone. I feel o.k. now and again excited about losing more in the next few weeks.

I'll have to ask at my next appointment what size my band is, I got 6 cc's today in my fill.

I have a 10cc band and just had my 5th fill on Tuesday which brought me up to 7.5 ccs and finally I have restriction. I didn't lose any weight from my first week after surgery until about my 3rd fill. It can be discouraging, but I have lost 3.5 pounds since Tuesday because I finally have restriction and finally know what everyone is talking about! Be patient!(I know it's hard!)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
