I made it to Onederland!

Recommended Posts

I can't believe how quickly I'm losing since this last fill! It has only been four days and I've lost 4.5 pounds! I never dreamed I could lose this quickly, especially without being hungry or uncomfortable in any way. I'm not even exercising because I just don't have time.

My main issue now is making sure I eat enough, especially Protein. I'm on the go a lot so I have to rely on portable foods. I've mostly been eating Slimfast shakes and Luna bars but at only 10-11 grams of Protein per serving, that's not enough, especially when I have to make myself think about eating. As I mentioned in another thread, it's time to get out the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored Protein powder and start adding it to my foods.

I know it's tough when you're not really experiencing the full benefits of the band but try to be patient and hang in there! I don't know how long this level of restriction will last but I'm enjoying it while I can! :(

I'm so happy that you're there Longhorn. You started off slowly but look at you now... onederland !!:( It must be a great feeling to know that the band is finally working.. I've had glimpses of it. Looks like you'll have no problem meeting the Spring challenge.

Thanks, Sades! I realize that I could revisit Twoterville -- in the past, I rarely reach a new low and stay there. Maybe this time will be different.

You're so right that we get "glimpses" of how the band works along the way -- perhaps the first couple of weeks after surgery and then after some of the later fills. I know the band has been working all along because I always kept losing but very slowly. I may get back to the slow rate but this faster rate is sure fun! I hope you get there at your next fill, too, Band Sis! :(

Band sisters, I like that ! :biggrin2: I'm losing again at the moment... haven't weighed myself for a couple of days so could be back at onederland myself... was at 200 two days ago. The plan is to keep going not keep working on the same 2 lbs.

Good for you! That's such a psychological boost to finally start seeing some new numbers! I tend to revisit the same numbers for awhile before I dip lower, which is why this last few days have been so amazing. I barely got to "know" 203 before I left it behind.

Same band date, same age, and now, about the same weight. I'd say we're definitely band sisters! If it wasn't for that pesky six-inch difference in our heights, we'd be twins!

congrats!!

Thanks, ljm! I just read through a little bit of the rollercoaster you've been through lately as described in your blog. I feel for you, hon, and hope everything works out the way you want it to. Good luck!

CONGRATULATIONS LONGHORN!

Reaching those milestones are such a mental boost. I was in the 180's and then suddenly back into the 190's.... BOO!

This has not been happening to me. I've been losing slowly, but losing, never gaining. Annoying, but not too worried yet, as I know I totally need a fill! And I know I have NOT overeaten, even though I could easily.

Have to get "things moving" so I just had a piece of whole wheat "double fiber" bread with Peanut Butter. This is in addition to all the benefiber I've been adding to my Water.

Had no idea waiting to get restriction could take so long though.

Hooray for you!

 You're a crazy woman !! :cursing: Yes that 6 inches would make a big difference... that would make you look about 10 lbs lighter than me. Anyway, just thought I'd mention that I am back at 199 this morning (Aussie morning) and I'm so excited. Another 1 lb and I'm back where I was about a week ago. From there it is downhill all the way !!

Sades, I hate to rain on your parade ( but since I'm in a bad mood anyway)... the six inch difference in height is actually more like 30 pounds difference... as for weight calculations, it's about five pounds for every inch in height.

Now before you start to really cry, I'm TWO inches shorter than you and eight inches shorter than Longhorn.......

I think I'll go curl up in a corner and weep for awhile. Does crying burn a lot of calories?

Gosh, I'm really having a bad week!

Nah Shortgal, not that much... my niece is 7 inches taller than me and when we were a similar weight, we weren't very different dress size. Anyway, I can't argue with the stats.

Hey don't let things get you down... so easy to do. You've done so well so far and I know once you get that next fill things will start moving. Think about how lucky we are that we discovered lapband surgery and that we could afford to do it. I know there are many people out there who will always be overweight because they weren't as lucky. I'm looking forward to saying I wear a normal size 16 which isn't going to be too far off and think about when you can tell people you are a size 14. Keep the motivational thoughts in your head and spit out the negative ones.

CONGRATULATIONS! That is fantastic!

It is amazing how fast the weight comes off after a good fill. I lost 5 pounds the week after my last fill. It has slowed again but I am still losing.

This morning I tried on a pair of 16's (not the icky 16W's) I had in my closet from a few years ago and they fit! One pair buttoned but was a smidge to tight but the other pair fit great. They are really cute too. I didn't get to wear them for long because I gained so fast which means they are in really good shape. Very exciting!

I'm 5'1". How tall are y'all?

Thanks Sades, I know I'm just cranky because the scale went up in spite of the fact that I've been eating well and not too much.

Today, I have eaten too much, just knowing the scale went up. I know I will stop sabotaging myself tomorrow. And boy, it really affirms I need a fill and I've totally changed my mind about asking for .5 cc's. I want the full 1cc's. I don't even have to overchew my food for it to go down.

I guess the dress size thing can be different for two different height people depending on where each person carries their weight. For me, it's sort of evenly distributed but my worst area is below the waist and above the knees all around. My butt has shrunk a lot though.

JILL, What a victory! I just can't stand the woman's sizes, they are just not made for short framed people. Pants way too long, sleeves too long etc. The shoulders on the larger sizes would fit a linebacker. Just not right for shorties.

I used to be 5" and 1/2 inch. I think I shrunk to 5 feet even. Even petite clothes can be too long for me, especially sleeve length. No wonder I can't reach anything in the kitchen cabinets! Although as my belly gets smaller, I can get closer to the counter and reach a little better. And all this time, I thought I couldn;t reach as well because I was shrinking!

One NSV I've had is: I don't seem to drip food on my shirts anymore, as I lost weight I guess I am able to bend over the table better and I have fewer spills. And I can put my shoes and socks on without angling my body to the side around my belly.

Ok Thanks everyone, I feel better now! I will salvage this day and make tomorrow even better. I can hang in until next Tuesdays fill.

I love my fellow November Nymphs. My husband is just no good at helping me over these hurdles. He's very supportive, but just doesn't know the right words I need to hear. I think it's a Mars/Venus thing.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
