Hi Julie,

If you're asking whether you made a mistake cancelling your fill, I'd say no! If you are doing well without an adjustment there's no reason to rush into it. Many doctors won't even consider giving a fill until weight loss has stalled for at least a couple of weeks or a month.

You're doing great! You're one of the lucky ones who does well without an adjustment for a while. Enjoy it! :)

I have read in many places that fills are needed when you go 3 to 4 weeks without losing any weight. I have gone 3 weeks, then lost 2-3 pounds again the next week. Like you I haven't felt a need for additional fill even during those 3 week plateaus, so I waited it out, and I'm glad I did. Additional fills would probably make me too tight and I'd be miserable!

Yes, I called my Dcotors office to schedule a fill in two weeks and the first thing the nurse asked me was if my weight had stalled or if I wasn't losing inches. I just got the band two weeks ago and I've lost 14lbs so far so she said nope - I'm not ready for a fill. I know I have a restriction becuase I am eating a fraction of what I was eating before and I feel FULL so I'm going to just chug along, watch what I eat and watch the pounds go bye bye.

Hi Julie,

Congrats on your new band and no you did not make a mistake. I was hungry during the liquid phase but once I got on mushies and solid food that hunger went away. I waited 6 months before my first fill and had lost 68 lbs during that time. The worst mistake is getting overfilled or reaching your maximum band capacity before reaching goal. All kinds of problems arise from too much fill. I tend to like the softer approach of letting my body tell me when I need a fill. Best wishes to you, Teresa

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
