I sure will let you know. A friend of mine knows some women who have been to these dr's and they love them. We are going to a seminar in April and I want to have the surgery early next year. Can't have it before due to medical spending is gone this year. Believe me, this isn't the only reason but these dr's. don't charge as much which makes it available to me. I couldn't have the surgery if it were any more and I need this to keep me from getting sicker.

The Dr.'s are great, especially Dr. Kirk he is wonderful. I just want to give you a little warning. I had my surgery Dec. 6, called for my first fill it was supposed to be 6 weeks, couldn't get in for 8 weeks, same thing on my 2nd fill. Had my 2nd fill Dr. told me to call and get an appt. for another fill in 6 weeks... I can't get in for 10 weeks. I am so frustrated, my first fill didn't take I called tried to get in quicker couldn't, my 2nd one I had restriction for about a week and I desperatly need another fill but it is 9 weeks before I can get back in. If I would have known it was going to take this long to get fills I probably would have went with another Dr. I have only lost 20 pounds since my surgery and I am a little dissapointed because I do not feel like it is working.............. :confused2:

I've heard the same thing about it being 8wks between fills, as I've researched him and went to a seminar. From my understanding he is a wonderful doctor. I just can't afford the $300 fills. I'm sorry to hear that you don' t feel you are having much success with your band boobar. Did you find any other doctor that you considered before Dr.Gorospe? Another great website to visit also is obesityhelp.com. You can find people locally to talk with and there are specific forums for all different kinds of topics. Next time you go in I would definately have a heart to heart with Dr.G about your concerns with your band. If he is as wonderful as they say, I am sure he will find a solution or the reason for your difficulty. Best of luck!

They cancelled the April seminar. How are you doing now BooBar? Looks like I'm going to have to pay more out of pocket than I expected due to unforeseen circumstances. Any success with the fill schedule BooBar?

I believe there is a group of dr.s in Tulsa who might do your fill, I am not sure give them a call 918-481-4800. If not I know that there is a Dr. in Cushing Ok. that will do your fills his name is Dr. Lafon, I do not have his phone number sorry!

Just an update, I happened to be at the med center the Dr. G and Dr. Kirk are at and I ran into Dr. Kirk in the hallway and told him about not having any restriction and my frustration, he was able to pull some strings and get me in for another fill!!! I have lost 5 pounds since then... woo hoo..

He did tell me they are trying to hire another surgeon to make more available for the fills!!

Hey all I was banded by Gorospe on July 8, 2008. Dr Kirk is great. He did warn me of the wait for fills and suggested I go ahead and make the appt and just cancel if it wasn't needed.

But everyone at Baily Medical was great.

I had my lap band done Jan/ 30 ,2008 By Dr. G.... HE IS GREAT!!!!!!!! His staff at the time left alot to be desired. For some reason My case worker was more concerned about her life than my surgery. I worked with me insurance and reported back to her. I made my own Dr. Appt's. Then the night before surgery they almost cancled because i had not attended some classes they never told me about! I cried all night long and went to surgery laoded for bear!:) So frustrated that they delayed surgery almost 1 hour and 1/2. So much c_ _ _ P ! to go through. Dr kirk the fill Dr. is wonderful!!!!! If you can just work with Dr. G's staff and let him know if you have trouble with them you'll be fine! He can't make the problem go away if you don't say anything. I have been doing well I have been going to Curves 3x's a week and my kids got me a wii fit for my birthday it's so much fun!!!!!!!! I have lost 31 pounds that's about 5 pounds a month not to bad for an old woman! Anyway good luck to you!!!! Peg:thumbup: sorry can't get ticker to work today.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
