Daniellabee,

Thanks for being so honest with your post. Its good to hear that the band is not perfect and that we all need to work really hard to lose weight. It seems like when we do poorly we dont want to admit it to ourselves let alone on this website. Good luck with the fill maybe it will losen up in a few days

Daniellabee,

Don.t get discouraged. It's hard to think you can eat something and then get stuck. I have the same issue-try the same food only methodically follow the rules-sometimes it works. Be careful after getting stuck because everything seems to get stuck for the next day because of irritation.I have had success with eating a small frozen dinner {not with pasta} on days when the band is irritated. I recently had .20 taken out of my band and now regret it because I,m eating twice as much and losing nothing-yet I still get stuck like before. Good luck.

Nice weather is finally here! its time to take our walking outside. anyone who would like to walk lets meet at 8 am at delaware park by the stand formerly known as the juicery. what i thought would be a good idea this year is to switch parks. so first we would walk at delaware park till the end of may and then for june switch to steiglemeir park in chktg and then july switch to another park- maybe amherst bike path. this way maybe we can get some more walkers

I have been on here for the last few months and I am still trying to decide where to go for the Lap Band. I am about 2 1/2 hrs from Buffalo, but I have heard so many good things about Dr Hoffman that I am considering going there. I have read on here that I need to call and get an application, but I was wondering what other info Dr Hoffman requires?

My other concern is that I only have a BMI of 35.2, but I do have Diabetes, PCOS, GERD and COPD (which I'm not sure if those are comorbidities or not) I have United Health Care Insurance and I do have documentation of a 6 month low calorie diet that was suppervised by my Dr about 4 years ago, so I'm not sure if they will except that. Plus my BMI has gone up and down over the past 5 years (so at times my BMI has not been above 35) I have always weighed over 200 lbs, but I'm 5'7". Has anyone else gotten approval with a similar health record?

Sorry this was so long, I just have so many questions and my fear of getting denied by my insurance is standing in my way right now.

Maggie, my BMI was lower than the norm but I too had comorbidities.. All I can say is get the application and send it in. They will let you know if you qualify.. After I submitted the application and waited about a month for them to get ahold of me..I called.. Keep calling until you get someone.. They don't usually return calls very often.. I asked if I would qualify.. They dug up my application , checked it over and told me I would as long as I didn't loose any more weight on my own.. At that point, I did qualify.. If you do qualify, then you wait for the invitation of the next seminar. THere you will get all the facts of the band vs gastric bypass.

good luck

Ok Girls, What do you think?

I have gained 5 lbs in the last week and am so annoyed! I cant figure out if its me or if my band is broken. Besides a little extra Easter candy I havent been doing anything different. Im going to try and restrict my carbs and up my excercise for a few days and see if that helps. Has this happened to any of you? and what have you done to get back on track? My next appointment is not until May 13th so I need to figure this out before then.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Rain

Rain, the meeting was last week.. It was a good one. A nutritionist was there. Miss seeing you at the meetings.. Don't think you were there last month either. Try to come in May..Actually, most the the orig bandsters havent been there. Val and Live, Laugh and Love , maybe you guys can make it too. I learn so much from you guys..

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
