Dr. Aaron Hoffman - Lap Band done in Buffalo, NY (Dr. Hoffman)

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what sliming really is? The last two mornings I have had dry heaves. All I had in my stomach was coffee so nothing came up but I had a lot of spitting. Nothing was stuck. I hadn't eaten yet. It was accompanied by...well lets just say I was already on the toilet.

I will admit I had to much SF pudding and SF cool whip (which I know can cause diaherra) both days prior but I have eaten that prior to banding also. I am going to do my darndest to be perfect today and see if it happens tomorrow also. I don't think, or feel like I did any damage. I hope the H pyloria isn't back!

Any thoughts?

Linda, I am the queen of slime so yes, I know exactly what it is. When you eat something to big, or to fast, your esophogus starts to spasm. when this happens your esophogus produces mucus to try and move the stuck food. Since nothing is moving, you start to try and burp, but nothing comes up but mucus (slime) hope that answered your question!

sincerely,

the slime queen

P.S, I am so much tighter in the morning, that even fluids move slowly, so the coffee could have been moving to slow and your esophogus became irritated.

Don't know about the other end, could have just been a fluke or maye you picked up a bug.

Val, what was your Bib number for the race? I am trying to find my pictures but my bib was hidden. I am hoping I can locate my pictures as they should be next to yours. Thanks.

Hi China... Good luck on your surgery. About 2 weeks before mine, I was freaking out so much, I made myself sick and irratable and didn't sleep etc., etc, etc.

It really was not not bad at all. The pain med they gave me made me nauseaus but I didn't even fill the script. I only took tylenol 3x at home and a couple of times, I put ice on the biggest incesion. Its been 3 weeks now since my surgery and life is almost back to normal. I can eat enough to fill me up but not so much that I get sick. The trick is to eat slow and know yourself enough to stop when you are full.

Good luck

good news look like I was able to get my surgery moved up to 12/29. Thank god, the new insurance starts 1/1 & they wont cover Lapband or GB. I just have to finish get final tests done.

I'm having a problem though w/losing enough weight. Was doing really good the 1st week, lost 9 pounds, then stupidly put 2 back on over Thanksgiving weekend. But I've been back on (stayed on phase 1) and now its just staying there, not losing or gaining. I dont know what to do, I've been exercising every day, eating a lot of protein-well mainly chicken or eggs, eating green veggies & drinking a lot of Water or skim milk. I'm not sure what to do to get it moving again. ( i have been writing everything down and following the basic diet plan for phase 1 from the SB book)..................any suggestions? I have to lose another 6 or 7 pounds yet???!!

Great news about the surgery date... But, did you find out if the ins will cover the f/u appointments with the clinic following the surgery ?

Also, when I wasn't loosing any weight and at a standstill.. I didn't put anything in my mouth after 6pm.. Water only.. That might help.. It helped me.

Hi All. I'm looking to join the program for Dr. Hoffman.

Just a quick question: I've called the clinic multiple times for an application and still haven't gotten one (overall, it's been over a month). Does anyone have a better phone number or e-mail to contact someone with questions? The automated answering service doesn't give you the option of speaking to anyone with questions.

why dont you try replacing 2 meals with a proteing shake. or stick with it and cut out the snack or something. i had that problem so i started by replaceing a meal with a shake. and trying not to eat after 930 and it work alittle. i have 4 more to go and it is rough.

he shar how are you feeling. meant to ask you how was the gas. i go for my final weight in 12-08 then surgery 12-15-08 at 930. im happy to be at the end almost but, im scared really. is that normal.

China, like Shar said it is normal to be scared and anxious. We all were. Soon it will be a memory.

Daniellabee - if your doing everything right and it sounds like you are one day the scale will make a big jump. Who knows why our bodies react the way they do. Is it your period. That can cause havoc. Hang in there. Me, I am beginning to wonder if my scale is broke. It isn't moving!! LOL BTW-I don't think they will cancel surgery if you don't loose the weight.

Hey walkers - are we outside on Saturday? I am game. Don't think the weather man has gotten any predictions right so far so I haven't checked. I will be at the park at 8am, again parking by the zoo. Val I have a compliment to share with you on Saturday.

China, I feel very good. I think the weight is coming off but very slowly.. Its ok.. I don't care if it takes a year as long as I see a light at the end of the tunnel and I do. I am eating alot of Protein and vegs. Sometimes I'm gassy but I just look at the person next to me and act like its them and not me !!! not really !! but I do tend to get gassy after eating especially my protein shake...

Yes, its normal to be scared and nervous,. I was freaking out. But it was all for nothing because its really isn't bad. The day of surgery you are alittle uncomfortable but not in alot of pain at all. Don't worry. it will be ok.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
