Well I was banded 6/28/2007 I started off great. In fact with in the first two weeks I lost twenty pounds. Then I was able to eat and I had a slight gain. So I had my first adjustment and lost a couple of pounds but I still felt no restriction. Then a month later I had another and explained to my surgent that I was switching jobs and would be with out insurance for a couple of months but would follow up once I had medical coverage. Well then the holidays came and I was able to eat anything and everything and feeling depressed about it. To make betters worse the new job I took had horriable insurance and I was able to see my surgent untill yesterday 2/12/08 and the last time I was there was 9/2007. Well I gained twenty pounds back! I wasnt true to myself or this process and I do take responsabilty for my down fall however I was so affraid of my surgents responce that I brook down in tears when he came into the room. He said he wasnt suprised since I havent had an adjustment in so long and the first two I had where small ones. We had a good talk and he told me its not to late to get back on track. Unfortunaltly I am switching jobs again to something better with better coverage but I will be with out health coverage for a couple of months again. When I first started reading other post on this page it have me hope to know I wasnt alone. I hope my story will do the same for some one else. I had a big reality check! But most of all it made me realize I had this surgery for a reason and put a lot of money, time and hard work to have it and I wont to continue well. So here I am back to square one BUT I am determined to do it now and do it right!

Good Luck with the new job and I hope the insurance situation improves. I have a question about your insurance when you switched jobs. Did the new ins. tell you any follow up with surgeon and/or fills would be covered or do they consider this a pre-existing condition? I want to swtich to my husbands ins. company as the coverage is better and i costs us nothing while my current ins. through my work cost me an arm and a leg. Any advice? K.

Well with my old insurance my adjustments where covered for three months after my surgery then I had to pay co-pay and adjustment fees which was $80. With my new insurance I paid co-pay and adjustment fee went up to $100 so it is quit costly.

I recently had my third fill and so far so good. After gaining weight I had a reality check. I felt depressed but not surprised I new I wasnt doing what I was suppose to but I was always hungy. My surgent said he sees this all the time with people who dont get restrictoins when they need to. After an adjustment my surgent has me do two days fluids two days soft food then work my way to solids again avoiding Soups and soft food. I relieze more then ever after this surgery that i am seriously addicted to food. before this last adjustment I was eating ice cream like crazy and my portions where out of control. This may sound weird but I have been helping a relative deal with acohol adiction and attended meetings with them that has been helping me I learned that I have to survender and aknowledge that I have a problem. Then I thought to myself if my relative can give up drinking then I should be able to do this. I would like to attend my baratric support group however its not helpful much because must of them have had bipass surgery and all you hear is the sucsess stories this web site is way more helpful : )

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
