Someone Help Me!!!!

Recommended Posts

I am so discouraged!!! I had my operation on Nov. 1st. I have had 3 fills and am up to 4cc's in a 10cc band. With each fill I feel an initial restriction then I feel like I can eat anything I want.

Preoperatively I lost 18 pounds. Since then, not only have I NOT lost weight I have gained back all but 11 pounds!!!!! I am so unhappy about this. Does any one have the same problem or is it just me???? I feel like a failure and we paid out of pocket for this surgery so every month when I see the bill it makes me sick because here I am in my same fat body!!!! Help!!!!:smile2:

I'm not a Nov but I know several people with 10 cc bands who had to have 7+ ccs to feel restriction beyond the day they received the fills.

I hope that is true. I just feel terrible that I gained instead of at least kept off what I originally lost. I feel like I'm on Weight Watchers all over again!

I have a 10 cc band and started out with 4cc's. You definitely need more of a fill. You need to call and get an appointment. I'm right at 7cc's(This was after 2 more fills) and I can tell you it makes a HUGE difference.

I was banded 11/06/07 and am currently at 7.4 ccs in my 10 cc band. I am probably overfilled as I can't eat much...maybe four to six bites at a meal. Get more in your band. It DOES work.

Take care

First off, I hope no one told you this would be easy, because that's a load of crap. EasIER, maybe, than going it without surgery, but not easy by a country mile. It sounds like you just haven't gotten to the right fill level for you. Be patient, it will happen.

My first fill took me to 4.5 cc and I can tell you that it helped me none whatsoever. I was starving pretty near all the time. My 2nd fill took me to 6.5 cc and it was a HUGE difference. I can last about 3.5-4 hours after eating before I feel hungry. And I can eat a whole lot less. Even with that, I STILL stalled on weight loss. So don't feel bad. It'll get better. This whole thing is a journey. As I've heard people say before, this isn't a race. You'll get better with more fill.

I have 6.5cc in a 10cc band and even though I am more restricted than I was I can still eat more than I should. I can go much longer between meals which is a great help. Another .5 or 1cc should bring me to the point I want to be. When I had less restriction over xmas & the NY I truly struggled and ended up putting on 4.5 lbs... have lost them plus another lb since my last fill. You need more fill and soon by the sounds of it. Keep us posted.

I have the same problem. I get a fill and have great restriction and then after 2 weeks it is gone. I thought my 3rd fill was going to last because she added 1 cc and I couldn't get Water down so she backed off to .5 cc and the Water went down. I was pretty tight for a couple of days but now 2 weeks later and I can eat anything but I don't. I am eating a little more than I should but I need it to stay full. I can't wait to get a fill that will last.

By the way, I have 4.5 cc's in a 10 cc band.

I'm at approx 6cc's in my 10cc band and I have yet to get restriction that last beyond the first two days (obviously that's due to swelling). the band "helps" my willpower but I do not get that satisfied full feeling after eating and always feel I could eat more (and want to). I wait the hour after eating so I can drink just to feel full.

I don;t want to be overfilled becasue I know that's not good, so I might ask for smaller fills, closer together, until I get there. Next appt on 2/26, still 12 days away!

Jill, 4.5cc in a 10cc band is not much restriction at all. As I mentioned previously, I have 6.5cc and I'm still able to eat what I want. I just finished eating a medium sized apple without a problem. I am not as hungry so I can go longer without eating but I can manage to take down quite a bit of food when I do eat. I get stuck sometimes if I eat too fast but really once that's over, I can keep eating. I think 7cc + in a 10cc band would have to be the way to go. I'm booked for my 4th fill on 27 February... hopefully that will be the one.

Sades, I can eat apples, beef, chicken, salad and popcorn and not get stuck. I am also noticing my hunger is somewhat controlled but I know I could (and want) to eat more, Weight loss is slowing and I continue to just "diet".

I am worried about being overfilled, so I will discuss at my next visit, (which is the day before yours) the possibility of adding .5 cc now instead of 1cc, but making my appts closer to each other.

I know if I get too tight, I'll eat foods that go down easily and some of them can be higher in calories and won't stay in my pouch long. I figure the solid foods I eat now is not the problem, I just need to feel full longer between meals.

Hope we both get there soon!

From what I've read here Shortgal, 7cc+ in a 10cc band seems to give a fair bit of restriction. My plan is get to 7.5cc at my next fill (hope the doc agrees). I would like a month or two of being tight to force me to start losing again. I work at it now but obviously not enough to get the next stage of weight loss going. Good luck with your next fill.

Are you going to any support group or nutritionist. Both have helped me make better choices on what I put in my mouth. Talk to your doctor about your problem.

Good luck to you!

Are you logging your food anywhere? I highly suggest fitday.com or sparkpeople or dailyplate.com because this helps keep you honest and it shows you just where you are with your calories as well as exercise. Are you moving at all? This is also very important.

I know you have heard it before but you can't expect the band to do all the work it is merely our tool. It will work for us if we help it along. Slow and steady wins this race we are in, do not give up, talk to your Dr!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
