I was banded back in April 07, from then until now I’ve gone from 307 at the time of my surgery to 250, I was down to 248 as of two weeks ago but for some reason I’m now up 2lbs to 250. I have a VG 11 band and from 5 fills so far a total of a little over 6-6.5 cc's (if I remember right) This is the first time I’ve gained since I was banded and not sure what to think of it.

My diet hasn't changed or has my exercising, I'm just wondering if I’ve hit one of those 'plateau's' and I’m retaining Water, body hasn't adjusted..Etc or something along those lines.

I've read a few past threads about people plateauing but wanted to know if anyone could please give me some advice.

From what I have read here in the past, it sometimes help to change up your diet and/or exercise. Go real low carb for a while, or increase/reduce calories, run instead of walk, lift weights instead of aerobics, etc. Do you have good restriction? Do you need another fill?

I feel like at this point I have 'pretty' good restriction (seems like it varies day to day almost). I could probably use another small fill but really threw me off seeing as how my weight loss just came to a complete stop and even backpeddled a little.

It could be a combination of things, but if you are keeping your carb intake low and exercising I think maybe I would try for a small fill and see if that does the trick. I don't know how much you are able to eat right now but it might help. If it's too tight then you can get some removed. It sounds like you are very close to your sweet spot though.

Are you recording your intake in a food log? Sometime you may be consuming more than you think you are if your aren't tracking it religiously. You can also go back historically and see a trend when you do start to see weight gain, i.e. carb intake went up on a certain date, weight was up the following week.

Otherwise, just try mixing it up a bit.

Thanks for the advice Jax

Maybe it's just 'extra weight' in my colon, my wife is always telling me i'm full of $h1t so maybe that's my problem :biggrin2:

Thanks to you as well Jack for your advice, I always enjoy reading your posts.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
