Sorry, I haven't read it either but it sounds interesting so I thought I'd bump the thread and see if anyone else has.

I forgot I changed my ticker to a short term goal a while back. What a waste that was, my body is just determined that I'm at goal and it won't lose anymore for me. Ofcourse I'm really not in the mood to try either so I can't really complain.:seeya::thumbup:

My starting weight was around 260 and I got down to 163 around the time I had a Tummy Tuck last fall but with the post surgery swelling and all I'm still up closer to 175 even though I haven't gone up in sizes. Size wise I started at a size 24 so tight I had to lay against the bed to get them buttoned and jump up and down to zip them. But I was determined not to buy the next size up knowing I was going for surgery soon. Now I'm wearing 10's most days but can fit a snug 8 and even managed to zip up some 6's from Aeropostale though I couldn't sit or breathe well once they were on :hurray:.

WOW that's awesome......... I'm eight weeks post op and I'm now down 46.3....... I need to update my slider..... I hopped on the scale yesterday even when I said I wouldn't befor my next appointment with the doctor 3/04/08.... I just knew I was down a huge amount since 2/05/08.... My clothes are falling off me at this point, I feel great except being cold a lot... I have to wear a sweater every where I go!! LOL That's fine with me if that's my only issue.... I just love my band... It's the best thing I've ever done for myself!!!

There is a whole thread dedicated to people lamenting about how cold they've become. I too have fallen prey to the old heater under the desk trap. I can remember well the days when I had plenty of names for women like that. LOL

I bought this book after I saw someone post about it on the board. First, a disclaimer: I'm an extremely picky reader and have really high standards. I would sooner pour battery acid on myself than read Danielle Steele. That said...

I guess I was expecting some kind of major epiphany from the book, which just didn't happen for me. Maybe it's like people expecting the band to solve all their eating issues like a magic cure; same thing.

There are a few good nuggets in there -- it at least gets you think about WHY you're eating. The author also writes as if we are to accept the book as definitive proof and I'm a skeptic a heart. Here's an example:

The book states that certain types of emotional eating is tied to needing to "work things out" or "chew on things" and others are more "heart" or "emotional connection" related. The author states that eating crunchy food = you need to work things out and soft sugary foods (i.e. ice cream) = you have emotional needs that aren't being met.

I don't necessarily agree with this correlation. Sometimes you just want chips.

My suggestion; get it from your library rather than buying it and skim through it. Take what resonates for you and have healthy questioning for the rest. I do think it's a great subject matter to explore but overall, this book was too simplistic for me.

I wish I had it handy right now so I could give more specific examples; this is just off the top of my head.

Maybe we should add a book suggestions and reviews thread.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice to get it at the library. I will check it out.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
