what to bring along pre/post surgery?

Recommended Posts

hello- I'm kind of new; I was doing research on banding late 2007. I finally have a surgery date. The last time i was on lbt.com, there was a great thread on what to bring with you pre and post surgery. I will be driving to Mexico for my procedure, and I was hoping to get tips here from all the pros on what to bring with me; necessaries and those little things that will help comfort in a time of discomfort...

If you live in SD, Dr. Gonzalez will have someone pick you up and take you home. The clinic is beautiful, the staff excellent and Dr. Gonzalez is excellent too. I only paid $6,750 for my surgery and all my fills are free for life. They quoted me $7,500, but I said that I only had $6,750 and they accepted my offer. I had the surgery a month ago and have lost 21 pounds. As far as what to take with you I brought my make up, a hair brush or comb, nite gown, panties, and that was it. The clinic that I had my surgery performed in that was in Mexico even had slippers with their clinic logo printed on them. I could not believe how beautiful the clinic was, it was on the 17th floor of a huge office building that overlooked the golf course. The floors were marble, my room had a beautiful bathroom with a shower, that had Shampoo and conditioner that was in dispensers, it was just grand. By the way, there is very little discomfort. Also make sure that you have your ATM or Credit Card in case you have to get any prescriptions in Mexico. A Mexican Doctor cannot prescribe drugs that are purchased in the USA. My stomach swelled too much and my Dr. had to prescribe something for inflamation and some antibiotics, it cost a total of $95, so make sure that you have money or your plastic to buy anything you might need. Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
