First fill not until 3/24 and scared of gaining..m

Recommended Posts

what I have lost so far (25lbs)!! Since the doctor has given me the go ahead to try anything I have been doing just that - mind you I cannot eat as much as pre-surgery but I had 2 chocolate chip Cookies yesterday and a brownie bite - it tasted awesome but I felt kinda yucky afterwards.

Any tips to keep this weight off or should I expect to gain a little back before first fill?

I think you should expect to gain back a little pre-fill. Prepare yourself for that possibility, because even if you watch every calorie religiously your body will probably gain a few bounce-back pounds no matter what. Losing 25 lbs in a few weeks is simply not natural, and now that you're back on solid food it would be surprising if your weight loss didn't stop and even reverse itself a little.

DON'T WORRY!!! You're not in a race and the whole idea here is to learn new eating habits you can live with for a lifetime. Can you survive the rest of your life never eating chocolate chip Cookies? I know I couldn't. :) You hit the nail on the head when you said you can't eat as much as you could pre-surgery. That's the key, and as long as you continue to eat less than you did before, you're doing great and you'll see results. Don't watch the scale daily if it's going to upset you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
