Stocking Up-What do you think I should buy~2 weeks pre-op?

Recommended Posts

My surgery is Feb. 13th. I know there are lists somewhere of what people recommed, I just couldn't find them. What do you recommend I buy to keep myself comfortable and satisfied?

So far I've bought:

3 extra pillows

A new digital scale

A new shower massager with a long hose thing

A heat pack that goes around the shoulder that you microwave (shoulder pain)

Campbells chunky Soups to be pureed

Plan on buying:

Gas X

liquid Tylenol (having trouble finding this)

So what else?

Thanks!

Marieze

If you have a health food store near you, (or look in your regular grocery...Ours has this as well) there is an entire line of organic cream Soups that are to die for. Cream of Portabella Mushroom, cream of brocolli, cream of carrot, ginger and cashew(awesome), Tomato basil, butternut squash. I lived on these. I just added some whey isolate protien powder. They come in little soft pack boxes, with at snap lid. They each have two cups, so for us it is two servings. When I feel bad, it's cold outside and I can't get warm or have had a fill, I still eat them.

Get some sugar free Jello and popsicles. You may also want to start trying Protein Drinks to see which ones you like. Oh don't forget he chewable vitamins. Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
